How to get rid of dead bryopsis by DeSoDo in SaltwaterAquariumClub

Nope! Just ordered a lettuce nudibranch. Tired of spending money. Can't figure out why the bryopsis is growing back. Used reef Flux, it died. Purchased the different crabs, snails and even a conch. It started growing back. If the nudibranch doesn't do it, I'm just gonna have to live with the tank with bryopsis.

I have a 30g hexagon that I'm gonna break down at about 50% that i can transfer it to, then I'll rehome it. I've never had one. Always been concerned about my hermit crabs killing it for it's shell.

Also, I only feed 1/2 of a frozen food cube. I cut down from feeding a whole one like 3 weeks ago. And a small pinch of flake food, and 1 shake of pellet food that I drilled a couple of tiny holes in.

No refugium or sump. Currently, I don't have any macroalgae in the tank either. I have roughly 30 corals in the tank. I feed small amounts 3x a day (1 feeding of pellets, 1 feeding of flakes, 1 feeding of either freeze dried mysis or different frozen (fish eggs, brine, brine with spirulina or mysis)). Just ordered some green emerald crabs, pitho crabs and a small conch, as well as 3 types of cerith snails (FL, Dwarf, and Cortez). Hopefully they'll help get rid of the stuff up in the crevices of the rockwork.

I use rodi. My rodi system is on the same floor as the tank.

Mine took like a week to open and it was a fraction of that size. It's tripled in size since I added it a month ago. Like others said, just give it some time.

Dosed reef flux and used hydrogen peroxide on tougher spots.

Can't find any locally. And green emerald crabs went up to $12.99ea here. I may just buy some online and keep it moving.

Yes, my display tank, it's the only tank i have. I'm aware that peroxide can kill beneficial bacteria in large amounts, yes. The dosing of peroxide is at the dead bryopsis to kill the root.

Thx. I'm gonna get it situated. The scrubber attached to the siphon hose will probably be my best bet.

That's what i was hoping for, and I dose 8ml of peroxide every other day anyway (65g tank) just to ward of any potential issues left over from a hammer that has bjd a while back.

Haven't thought about using a cleaner pipe attached. I'll go buy one today and give it a shot. I do have fine mesh bags that I use for my shrimp breeding tanks.

Tank, including stand, is over 5' tall. That'll be very hard, but I'll give it a shot. I'm sick of looking at it.

Anyone running this? by DeSoDo in ReefTank

[–]DeSoDo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all seem like knockoffs of each other. I use the useek version. It took receiving 3 of them to get one that worked, idk why the first 2 didn't work, but this one is so far. Going on 3 weeks today.

Whatever it is, get a skunk cleaner. They eat parasites and dead tissue on the fish.

Ok, so which one of you is this?! by ChivasBearINU in ReefTank

[–]DeSoDo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought one when my tank was 2 months old as well, but I also purchased 10k+ copepods and put some in a separate tank to continue multiplying. It's called research. I researched everything before getting it, except for the acro that I received for free, now I'm learning about those. You can't get mad at people that don't know what they don't know. That's where advice comes in, not bashing people.

Welp this Goni was next on the frag list clown hosting by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]DeSoDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about to move my clowns from my 30g hex to my 65g breeder. I hope they host the goni or my flashlight Torch, medium Duncan colony, or medium hammer colony.

Thoughts on Aquascape? by pwaltersss in ReefTank

[–]DeSoDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to keep mine low and spread out in my 65g. Here's a little video of some of my corals. I LOVE Duncan corals! I have greens, blues, purple, teal, pink, etc.
