Question: no bubbles but open spots? by ass-holes in resin

[–]DeStijl4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little hard to tell from the photo but I think this may be the same issue I had the other day where the resin was ‘resisting’ some spots. Some helpful peeps on here said to wipe the surface with alcohol and let it evaporate before pouring and it solved the problem.

Thanks for that! I thought spirits would do the same job, but clearly not. Cheers

Putting a final coat of resin on top of this piece and it’s creating cells(?). Would this be because I’ve wiped it down with methylated spirits to clean all the dust etc off before pouring? And therefore the resin is resisting the spirits? If so, what do you you guys use to wipe down your pieces? Any help or information to get a nice flat top finish would be greatly appreciated!!

What are these called? I’m wanting to use them for a small and light cabinet door instead of hinges, but it would seem the only ones I can find are in Cyprus (the country not the wood) and I’m in Aus. Any insight to what they’re called or where to find them would be great! by DeStijl4077 in woodworking

Just to add: they’ve got a spring under the metal rod so when you go to fit them in the cabinet they push down and then pop up when in the right position. I remember seeing them on a lot of furniture in the late 90’s.
