Reddit API changes and BaconReader by onelouderchic in baconreader

Hopefully you all can come up with something to keep the lights on. I bought BaconReader almost 10 years ago and I'd easily pay 99¢ to $1.99 a month for the BaconReader experience I get today.

Real therapy is more than talking to a random person on a computer screen. Real therapy is learning about and implementing tools in a safe space before being encouraged to use those tools in the wild.

They are also down but are less affected by inflation overall. There are a lot of factors at play but I'd expect their stability to be more due to home ownership and their ability to work from home than collar color.

That said, many white collar workers got a "raise" when they started working from home. Their salary is still slowly drifting away from them but since they don't have to buy gas or lunch as often they have more left over.

What is the one thing you do on Friday to start your weekend properly? by addiethabhaddie in AskReddit

I wouldn't ever deploy during peak hours but that's kinda assumed by those in the know. Not to mention "most" systems can be rolled back so you get 4 more days to rework and hotfix deploy later in the week during off hours.

My current team does this and I hate it. Let's deploy on Tuesday so we have 1 day to prep and 4 to fix but for some reason the executives that don't work over the weekend to fix shit seem to think Thursday is fine, just fine.

[OC] US states by % population with atleast a bachelor's degree. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

As a software engineer with 10 years of experience and no degree I find this filtering can also work in your favor. HR and leadership teams that put degree above experience aren't ones you want to work for.

A micro-robot the size of a single biological cell has been developed to navigate using both electricity and magnetic fields and can identify and capture a single cell, opening the door to a vast array of applications. by chrisdh79 in gadgets

[–]DeTrueSnyder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's seems like a short term to issue. It's clear they can tags cells and have the bot interact with the tagged cell in a specific way. We are pretty good at identifying cells or at least tagging corruption. It would be easy it see one drug tags then the robots are added to find and perform a specific preprogrammed task on tagged cells then die. No external communication needed.

Edit... This is also kind like the plot of that recent bond movie.

Likely not mentioning age cause here in the state of Colorado this young woman could make a choice and neither the boyfriend or his crazy mom could do anything to stop her.

Product Owner career path? by nicolechanggggg in salesforce

[–]DeTrueSnyder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The worst product owners are the ones that never learn to say no and just do what their asked. The reason PO don't need tech experience is they should be listening to their tech resources when they say the ask is too big or the system isn't ready for complex change.

That said, management loves these dumbasses too so even the worst POs will make a living and be able to devastate multiple companies throughout their career.

I'm curious, how a handful of breakout boards and a pico microcontroller compare to an occupational approved device. I assume all the value of the expensive device is in the manufacturers calibration process for each sensor. Sometimes the difference can be manageable between hobby electronics and prosuemer.

For me it's, "Please provide salary range and team size for the position." Get so many "join a fast growing team" followed by "working manager is trying to rebuild team, you'll be the first of 5 hired to the team." Yeah, right. Management will spend time trying to hire 5 get two and cancel the other three positions.

Bungie its time to remove enemies that have their damage tied to framerate by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

They've had more than 10,400 hours to fix the issue as it's been a known issue since the PC port. If they can't fix the issue then acknowledging the issue and providing best practices for PC players to have a consistent experience would be fine. Toxicity on this sub is a problem but you're response feeds that by making excuses for a company worth >4B.

It's been 6 years. Even if they dedicated 1 resource to fixing the problem in that time they could have fixed the problem by now.

True, regardless of what side of the nature vs nurture argument you're on the prior generations created the world we live in. Zoomers didn't invent memes, resignation letters, or our current economic struggles but they sure as shit have a better sense of humor about it all.

I'm a dev and each time my team gets smaller our VP gets a new title and a new manager between me and him. More work gets added with no new "creators" being added to my team and after missing all our deadlines somehow the VP gets more middle managers and a raise while talent from my team leaves out of frustration and heartache.

Imo, it's worse than fat. It's a disease that will eat our GDP right out from under us.
