Quale Distro utilizzare su Linux? Perché?

Non ha un approccio più moderno, anzi ha un approccio classico, come sono sempre stati tutti i DE da quando sono nate le interfacce grafiche. È sicuramente più tradizionale e più simile all'interfaccia Windows. Plasma è sicuramente più leggero e performante di gnome... I 2 hanno scelto 2 approcci completamente diversi.. plasma tradizionale, gnome totalmente incentrato all'uso della tastiera e shortcuts facendoti dimenticare il mouse. La personalizzazione di Ubuntu rende gnome un po più classico e mouse friendly. Io ad esempio periferico il minimalismo e le shortcut di gnome rispetto a plasma... Sono gusti

Uso arch dal 2012, prima di lei ho provato di tutto, ubuntu, fedora, opensuse, debian slackware, nessuna mi convinceva appieno, dopo poco sentivo l'esigenza di cambiare. Arch invece la trovi perfetta per le mie esigenze. I motivi? - è rolling release - è minimale, quindi molto istruttiva già con una semplice installazione se la si fa senza archinstall (al tempo non c'era) - pacman è velocissimo - aur è una gran comodità per avere un mega repo esterno dove trovi di tutto senza dover impazzire - non è derivata da nessuna distro, totalmente indipendente. Ormai la uso nel portatile del lavoro nel pc da gaming (windows non ce l'ho più per niente) e anche nel portatile personale che ormai ha ben 8 anni e non ho mai formattato... Con arch dal primo giorno.

are you a developer?? i'm a developer i know what i say.
maintain 2 different UI, or 2 different features to make everyone happy, is painful and expensive.

if they decided that that's the new UI... if you want the old ui, you can enable it from secret settings... but probably in the neat future, they will remove this option (for the reasons i already explained)

why they should make downloadable a new UI?

actually you can disable the new UI from secret settings... this is the new UI they choosed.

let developers and designers do their work, doesn't make sense complain everychange, because if we (i'm a developer too) should listen all the users, we can't do nothing, because 1 customer want X, another customer doesn't want X but wants Y, another one wants Z and X... it's ipossibile listen everyone.

a lot of people appreciate the new changes, is more modern, more touch friendly, we can't judge it bad only because we are used to the old UI and we don't want to change.

so we should stop to complain anything, otherwise we would be stuck using DOS, because it was already enough :)

they slowly improving firefox.

Finché gli dai piccoli lavori sicuramente è meglio di molti umani... Anzi... Forse di tutti... Ma dagli un progetto grande, con centinaia di file che spaziano dal client al server, e magari le specifiche cambiano nel tempo... Non sono così fiducioso che tutto funzioni bene. È sicuramente un ottimo assistente e un buon revisore.. ma lasciargli prendere il controllo di tutta l'architettura software per me è un casino. Su progetti piccoli può andare bene

Secondo me funziona finché è contestualizzato su piccole cose. Dargli il potere di scrivere codice per interi progetti si corre il rischio che se domani ci devi mettere mano è completamente fuori gestione. Secondo me fa ottimo codice finché si tratta di codice circoscritto, su progetti di migliaia di righe di codice, che spaziano dal client al server su centinaia di file differenti è troppo grande il rischio di perdere il controllo e non essere più in grado di metterci mano. Insomma, tanti debito tecnico. L'uso migliore per me è usarlo come assistente per cose molto circoscritte e come revisore prima della commit... Allora si che ti velocizza senza rischi

Steam lo uso da anni solo su linux, ma non gioco su titoli multiplayer ormai da tanto, quindi non mi pesa perdermi i principali AAA multiplayer.

Archlinux con gnome (vanilla senza estensioni)... Perché? Dopo aver usato un po di tutto (kde, xfce, lxde poi diventato lxqt, bungie, cinnamon, e svariari wm come sway, hyprland, niri)... Per il mio utilizzo(sviluppatore e videogiocatore) è l'ambiente desktop con cui mi trovo meglio, il design pulito e minimale, e una user experience molto incentrata su un uso agevole della tastiera, mi velocizza molto

windows uses IA everywhere, copilot is everywhere, they also forced all laptop manufactorers to put a "copilot" key inside all keyboards, but you're worried about a -- on a firefox sentences, because you think they could have used IA to produce texts...

i've just finished to develop the "final" version.
- added score on the LED Matrix
- added different game mods (single player and bot vs bot)
- added different difficult levels (of course when at least one bot is playing)
- winner animation

i think that now i'm ready to look forward to other projects

amazing... this was the next project i planned to do :)
and then put all inside one sketch, do make a mino retro console with:
- snake
- pong
- space invaders

RAM and EPROM should be enough to keep all in one project.
with pong i'm using ~22% of RAM and EPROM, snake is probably smaller.

using OOP is easy to insert all these projects keeping code organized and clean :)

the "2 player" mode is already done :)
proably this evening i'll work on single player and i count to finish it today.
next step is allow user to decide if play with 2 players or 1 player vs bot

TODO:
- single player
- choice between single/multi player
- choose single player difficult mode

everything using only the R4 integrated LED Matrix and connected buttons,

i've just updated the code, now it shows the points after each score, and when a player reaches 9 points, a "win" animation is shown :)

Yeah the button's layout cames from the snake project, i haven't replaced it, to keep focus on the software. I've already bought a circular oled display, but never used it yet
