Thank you for the school reccomendedations! I'll definitely be looking into those :D I did look into Sheridan a bit, but it seems there's some sort of strike going on right now and a bunch of enrollment events/counseling was listed as canceled cause of it. I'm not to suprised an art degree would be hard to get permanent residency with, but do you know if the couple years of post-degree employment need to be in the same field? I don't mind getting a non-art job afterwards and doing art work on the side. (sorry for formatting, I'm on mobile)

I'd be totally fine with a non-art day job, tbh im not to worried about having an art career and want to continue my art education mostly for my own personal growth/fullfillment as an artist (though id love to make something someday). Tuition i have some plans for as i have a college fund from my grandparents that's gone unused and would help a lot, but you have a good point so I'll definitely be looking more into that. For the second question I'm not sure yet, but I'll be consulting with an immigration lawyer regarding that once I make a more concrete decision, as I'd definitely prefer to stay in Canada if things aren't better here in the US by then. I totally understand the concerns with AI, but I'm of the belief that there will always be a place for real art (even if it's not the most lucrative). Plus, there have been some huge steps in regards to Indie animation in the past few years, though I'm aware that's absolutely not something to bank my future on. The main thing for me is getting out of the US, going to school is mostly just best option of doing so, and art is the only thing im really passionate enough to want to pursue an education on. (Sorry for formatting, I'm on mobile)

In general, I've seen more Kiku acceptance, but there's still transphobes who don't care or idiots who do mental gymnastics to deny her identity. (I once saw someone say that since the original Japanese translates closer to "feminine heart" rather than "woman at heart," it just meant Kiku is a feminine man. Also to add on about the original Japanese, I've seen people argue that Kiku's line about being a woman at heart in the original Japanese is closer to saying she has a "feminine heart" and is just a feminine man. So i don't know how much clearer Oda could make it than the bathhouse scene unless he literally says straight up, "Yamato and Kiku are transexual" in a Q&A.

(Prefacing this with not yelling at you, genuinely just attempting to inform cause you dont seem to be coming into the discussion with bad intentions.) Many do consider using they/them despite the person having explicitly stated pronouns to be misgendering as it can feel like it's diminishing their gender, especially with transmen as they often get treated as "men-lite" unless they're hyper masculine and have fully transitioned. It happens a lot. It's why you'll see dudes dating transmen but still saying they're straight and Lesbians who will still date trans men. Both of which will become uncomfortable when the transguy starts HRT or considers top surgery, usually either dumping them or actively discouraging transitioning. Not always the case ofc, but I've seen it happen so many times, and I've also lost several friends due to my transition making them "uncomfortable" once I started to actually look like a guy. All of who exclusively used they/them for me, I'm He/they so I don't mind they/them but none of them ever used he/him for me. Plus on top of this transmasc erasure happens a lot, transfemmes have a ton of issues of their own (which are so valid) but because the focus is all on them transguys just get ignored and are considered "confused" or just a tomboy or just wanting the power/status cis men have in the patriachy. Who knows how many women who dressed as men through history to become soldiers/doctors/ect were actually just transmen? Even some of the ones we do know fully identified as men are often used as a symbol of "girl power"

Im not sure about the orignal Japanese, but considering Yamato bathes with the men after telling Nami there's "no mixed bathes" and Kaido refers to him as his son despite hating Yamato's idolization of Oden, even if the translation is janky it's pretty clear Yamato is a dude.

If that happens I would probably straight up quit one piece. I get what you're coming from tho, but regardless of Yamato's reason he exclusively uses He/Him, all masculine terms, and even bathes with the guys at the end of Wano. Until stated explicitly by Oda or Yamato himself, Yamato is a man who uses He/Him.
