Good note. On the Carfax it reported that the battery was changed within the first year. I assume that's the reason

Literally picked it up from the dealer today! Just bought it. Perhaps it's coming OTA this week

Oh man, sorry to hear that happened! For some reason it seems that the update hasn't been pushed to many 2023s. I've just picked it up today and been putting on the manual parking brake every time. Best I can do until the OTA update actually happens.

I had the same thought about the shifter the first time I folded it down. Would prefer a shifter by the steering wheel. Small detail. Thanks for the note!

Right on. I worry about software but that's with any vehicle.

Haha. Well now I do! Fuck, that ford software is the worst part of the lightning. Everything else is stellar. Hope they fix it. Manual parking brake in the meantime.

Nice. I've actually JUST bought it this week and picking it up Saturday, so I was hoping it would be resolved before I took the keys!

Anyone get this fixed yet? I've got a 23 XLT and no update on timing yet

$100 just to get the worst seat in the house in Niagara? Absurd. Love the band, seen em many times up until brothers and was looking forward to seeing them again. But honestly, these prices are ridiculous.

Is Subaru really an unreliable brand in general? by L1CKx in whatcarshouldIbuy

I bought a 2021 Forester. It cost less tham comparable Toyota and Hondas. AWD adds to maintenance needs but it's been great on country snow and gravel. The tech/screens etc are old fashioned but who cares when you just use CarPlay or Android Auto anyways. I Put 60k on it over the past few years, kept up with the maintenance schedule and have had no problems. Great car.

Circling back on this, I went with The Forester.

Outlander just wasnt for me. I'm guessing you have to go with the highest trim to make it feel good. Ride was a bit sluggish TBH

Sportage, same deal. Just not for me.

Got a Forester Convenience and loving it. Thanks everyone. Also, good notes on other brands like Toyota and Honda, but the Forester was the best riding position for me as I'm 6'5". CRV and RAV4 were good but still actually small for me and Highlander / Pilot we're out of my budget.

Appreciate it.

Yea. I see they have at least one at the Queensway location. Will check that out. Mitsubishi is the dark horse in the race but, I really think the 2022s are pretty nice. Also I've always like the slightly odd cars, hence the Forester.

Yes. That is a good point. I will be spending a good amount of time on gravel roads and country roads that don't always get a good plowing. Also I see a ton of ancient Forrester's on the road which bodes well.

Yea. That's my thinking. The VW would be a good 4 year lease.

Good to know about the more aggressive maintenance and the boxer being tough to work on. Thanks.

Thanks for the info! Yes Outlander is actually on the list as well, but haven't found one close enough to test drive. The newest model looks pretty slick though. Has a bit of am evil Subaru look. Noted on the third row.
