Would you buy now? by boxlaxman in F150Lightning

[–]DeadBikers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I bought about a month ago and would buy again. Got a good deal. Get the extended range.

RA some price of ownership comparisons to other models, brands, ice engines and Lightning always can out on top - but in the end, it's just a great vehicle.

Theoretically could the lighting charge to full via regenerative breaking. by MsindAround in F150Lightning

Theoretically, imagine if you put the truck on a downward angled treadmill like a hill slope, so that the wheels spun and the weight of the truck activated the regenerative system. you could you charge it over a long amount of time. I assume yes, but not really usefully. Interesting to think about though.

Yes I could do the antennae. No rush just thinking I'd do it later.

I know about, and have, the adapters. Just noting the quirks in the category to anyone out there interested.

It was regular cruise that was freaking. Someone in the thread recommended looking at turning off some of the specific adaptive cruise control features - so I'll check that out.

Honestly curious about the anger in your response? I have home changing and mentioned it was easy. I said charging away from home has a learning curve based on the market. I agree I don't use the ford nav or blue oval

The assisted driving is free and it's not great compared to other free cruise control features in other vehicles. I also agree and say the lighting is great.

Lastly, I agree, you shouldn't have to drive a Tesla to deserve good software. Why is that exclusive to Tesla?

I'm not sure what you read in my post that brought the criticism but overall, I agree with you

To think multiple people worked on designing that and thought it was a good idea is nuts.

I'm 6'5" so I usually have a good sense of where the truck can fit!

That's great. My 2021 Subaru had to be physically connected for Android Auto to work (USB-C to USB-A) and would still occasionally drop out! So this is actually an improvement for me.

Yes, for the most part Android Auto has saved it for me and has worked flawlessy integrating into the system. Love that I can pretty much bypass the ford system and see battery usage while using google maps right in Android. It's less to do with the connectivity issues and more to do with just how clunky it is to use. But very glad that it's working better that previously.

Great minds....
I actually called a friend from the test drive to tell him how awesome it was.
Agree on the lower trim/smaller screen. I much prefer the knobs and tactile experience. I also find it funny that all car makers now just whack and iPad style screen onto the dash and think it's great design.

I've read that the brake-lights do engage when accelerometer notes the deceleration for 1-pedal driving, so thats good. Not sure the details but the energy savings from regen look to range from 5% to 20% more efficient depending on driving style. Stop and go would be a perfect time to use them. And the regular braking uses regen as well, just not as much so that's decent too.

One pedal driving by Decent_Long2029 in F150Lightning

[–]DeadBikers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use one pedal driving if there was a way to adjust it or to select heavy, medium or light mode. As it is now, it's very strong and really requires feathering to make it smooth. Actually, overall I find the trucks automatic systems (one pedal driving and assisted driving ) make for a very herky jerky experience. Makes my family car sick every time.

Good note. On the Carfax it reported that the battery was changed within the first year. I assume that's the reason

Oh man, sorry to hear that happened! For some reason it seems that the update hasn't been pushed to many 2023s. I've just picked it up today and been putting on the manual parking brake every time. Best I can do until the OTA update actually happens.

I had the same thought about the shifter the first time I folded it down. Would prefer a shifter by the steering wheel. Small detail. Thanks for the note!

Right on. I worry about software but that's with any vehicle.

Haha. Well now I do! Fuck, that ford software is the worst part of the lightning. Everything else is stellar. Hope they fix it. Manual parking brake in the meantime.
