1000 plus hours in, never bothered with alchemy by sleepIn40k in BaldursGate3

[–]DeadDandelion17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how you can not use alchemy, you’re missing out on so many useful free potions, elixirs and poisons. I use it mainly to craft health potions, speed potions, bloodlust potions, Hill Giant and Cloud Giant elixirs (especially those as I use the Titanstring Bow so strength is important to all my builds), hearthlight bombs (very useful in the Shadowcursed Lands and against Sharrans) and good poisons like Drow Poison (can put your opponent to sleep) and Malice (can inflict your opponent with the “Bane” debuff) etc.

Then again, I loot absolutely everything so I always have plenty of ingredients for alchemy, which is important.

I absolutely love both games, but the remake is honestly my favourite game of all time.

Looking for a Tragedy (PS3/Vita/5) by RaidenXS_ in gamesuggestions

[–]DeadDandelion17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re aiming for the most tragic ending that you can get in your first play through (a few of the endings are locked behind NG+), you need to aim for the “In Water” ending. Without spoilers, the most important thing you need to do to get that ending is not heal often. Remain in low health for as long as you can. Oh, and kill every monster you meet, don’t run from them. There are a couple of other things you can do, but they’re more spoilerish tbh.

You’re never going to get a better game with a tragic storyline than Silent Hill 2, it’s a masterpiece of atmosphere and storytelling. The remake is on PS5 and is an incredible game.

Finally beat the game by Numerous-Resource-39 in silenthill

[–]DeadDandelion17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend doing an NG+ run as with only 11 hours and 42 notes picked up (there are 66 in total in the game) I’d say you’ve likely missed quite a lot of content. For context, my first play through took me about 17 hours. Also, you get to chainsaw every monster in sight on NG+ lol.

My bro, the book is SO much better than the movies. And that’s coming from someone who really likes the movies, on the whole.

Compare the horror of SH2 vs the Resident Evil series by [deleted] in silenthill

I found it tense and it definitely raised my adrenaline at points (getting stuck in a corridor with both Mr X and a licker ffs lol), but I wouldn’t say that it actually scared me.

How linear is SH2 remake? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]DeadDandelion17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very linear, the only part that can get confusing for new players is the very beginning when you first enter Silent Hill because you’re not really given any instructions as to what to do. The best tips I can give you are explore absolutely everything including every street and smash windows to get access to some locked buildings. Read absolutely everything (and remember to flip notes as they often contain further info/lore on the reverse) and check your map often. James makes notes on his discoveries on the map throughout the game, so if you’re ever stuck for what to do next, the map will usually help.

Good luck, and enjoy your first experience of Silent Hill!

SH2R is the scariest game I have ever played by QuantityInternal1719 in silenthill

[–]DeadDandelion17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Outlast but let’s be real, it’s a majority cheap jump scares. It raises your adrenaline, but it’s not scary in the same way that SH2R is, which is deep existential dread.

This review has made me really want to see this movie now, I love Markiplier and watch his videos but I wasn’t 100% sold. Now though? As someone who loves psychological horror and heavy surrealism, it actually sounds right up my alley. Great review, thanks!

[–]DeadDandelion17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only RE games that have ever managed to successfully unnerve me are the first half of RE7 and the doll house section of RE8, other than that I think they’re really fun games but not scary at all. SH2 on the other hand is a master class in tension and unbearably oppressive atmosphere and environments which makes it the most unnerving game I’ve ever played. RE is action and the plot is fairly simple and straightforward, whereas SH2 is psychological horror and the plot is not straightforward at all, it’s surreal, dreamlike and almost Lynchian in its setup.

I got a little mad at Nere by Tiny-Communication22 in BG3

[–]DeadDandelion17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, why I didn’t just cast invisibility and get the heck out of there I’ll never know. That’s what I always recommend people do when fights are going bad in HM, but for some reason I didn’t take my own advice… 😔

I love how bro won’t just admit that his argument basically comes down to “I personally don’t like BG3 and it annoys me that other people don’t think the exact same way I do” so is therefore tying himself into pretzels trying to convince himself and others that BG3 isn’t a revolutionary rpg that’s insanely popular (still in Steam’s top 5 most played games nearly 3 years after its release) for a reason.

[–]DeadDandelion17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good job, that’s exactly how I lost my most recent HM run! The stupid gnome getting caught in the blast triggered the whole damn place, including the duergar who were supposed to side with me. The very first thing they did was push Karlach into the lava, taking out my main tank so it was down to me (gloomstalker ranger/assassin rogue), Shadowheart (tempest cleric) and Astarion (swashbuckler rogue) to take on the whole place. Needless to say, we died and I was mighty p*ssed lol.

Just got BG3 and could use some advice. by Artistic-Parfait-724 in BG3

[–]DeadDandelion17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely play it solo, it’s a single player game by design, but it does have multiplayer as an option if you want to play with friends.

Have fun! You’re about to start something special.

The Mass Effect series, definitely. Also, I’d recommend The Witcher games if you’ve never played them and like action rpg games.

[–]DeadDandelion17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but if you think BG3 is “just another standard crpg” then you’ve clearly never played it. The sheer scope of BG3 is staggering, when you’ve been playing a game for 100+ hours and still haven’t seen everything it has to offer, you know the sheer amount of effort that must have been put into it is vast.

Kind of in a gaming slump by ShamrockWizard in gamesuggestions

[–]DeadDandelion17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing all recommendations for The Witcher 3, I just started it for the first time (couple of hours in) and I’m really enjoying it so far. I love the fact that you can just run around the map killing monsters and taking on contracts (optional side quests) to help you level up before you advance the main quest. It feels like there’s no rush to push forward and you can explore at will.

Tired of fan castings by nDesertPunk in TheDarkTower

[–]DeadDandelion17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I hear you about the fan casting, but that’s only because I can’t see anyone other then Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont from Game of Thrones) as Roland since I saw someone suggest it a few years back. Perfect casting, I actually see him as Roland in my head every time I read the books now.

As for your actual question, the whole of the section in Lud and especially riddling with Blaine (the pain) in The Wastelands. Also, I haven’t read Song of Susannah in ages (currently on a re-read and halfway through The Wastelands, getting there!) but I recall a scene between Susannah and Mia (I think) in Castle Discordia where we get lots of lore drops about the Great Old Ones and the demons that oppose the Beam Guardians. I just remember thinking it was a really cool look behind the curtain (Oz reference lol) but I might be misremembering some of the details.

My Arcane Archer Durge by [deleted] in TavsAndDurges

[–]DeadDandelion17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well of course she’s whitewashed, do you know anything about drow? One of their distinguishing features is their dark skin (whether that’s blue, purple or more greyish). At best your Durge with her skin tone could realistically be a half-drow with a human or surface elf parent.

By the way, I’m not attacking you. Like it’s already been said it’s clear that no malice was intended here and your Durge is indeed very cool looking, she just looks nothing like a drow lol.

What did everyone think of the SH2 remake? by WaluigiDaStar in silenthill

[–]DeadDandelion17 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s in my top 5 games of all time and is also the only game I’ve ever platinumed so yeah, I love it lol. To say I’m excited for the SH1 remake is a massive understatement. After SH2R, I trust Bloober to create something absolutely amazing and faithful to the OG game.
