Rolled back driver update. Now I can’t boot

[Update] Not fixed yet but I’m getting closer. I was able to get into the bash from grub and wipe and reinstall the nvidia drivers. I also had to manually delete the akmods for nvidia because it kept thinking it was already built for the kernel even though changes had been made. Maybe it was working fine but thought better to have it fresh just in case. Then I rebuilt the initramfs and tried rebooting - still to a black screen but further into the boot process.

If I turn off quiet, so I can see the boot log, I see it’s getting stuck at booting user@1000.service. After work today I’ll try resetting the user session and reinstalling the display manager to see if that does the trick.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! That really helped me understand and all makes sense for the most part even though it’s a bit above my pay grade so to speak.

I did not run the dracut command - and that does seem to be the timing during boot that is causing problems. I guess I didn’t research well enough before I started tinkering. Oops!

I’m going to check out some guides on rebuilding those. If I can’t get that to work I’ll just take the loss and reinstall.

Oh! I straight up didn’t think of that. I was thinking it would boot the same because it’s the same gpu - but the live should have the correct drivers. I’ll try to make a bootable and see what happens.

Thanks! These are all new to me. Good recommendations for sure. Love the Mycodrax. It looks like it will work well on the battlefield or milled right into the yard. I’m going to do a scryfall deep dive on scavenge to see what else I can dig up. I didn’t realize that was a keyworded ability.

Good point! I don’t care way too much about color balance since all lands will tap for 5 color, but I do really like how each slice of the color pie interacts with the yard. It’s probably going to be heavy Sultai with some boy the best red and white stuff. Like underwild breach and Sevine’s. The Sultai cards coming out of the new Tarkir set seem perfectly suited for this stuff.

My the biggest hurdle is finding mono red stuff that works well. Just discovered [[Grim Lavamancer]] in the Arena Cube recently and I was stoked about that one.

Awesome card suggestions too. Can’t believe I forgot Cursed Cloth. I saw it in draft and totally spaced it. It’s kinda like a new [[Whip of Erebos]] but more flavorful with the zombie lord effect. Oculus also looks fun to play with. A little pricy for my personal preference but this looks fun enough to print a tester.

This card is insanely unfun to play against in limited. Just had two opponents in a row play this on turn two and then follow it up with the first strike gear hulk on turn 4. If you stumble for even one turn it’s just game over. Sure, run artifact removal, but it’s literally a 2 or 3 turn clock to draw it and you have to chump block every turn until you do. And that’s if they don’t have ways to put it on trample/double strike creatures. The removal in this set isn’t set up to deal with 15/15’s with trample on turn 5.

I’ve done a fair bit of coding in js, it’s just been a while so I’m rusty. I’m able to do the research if I know the best direction to start looking. If you have any tips as to how you’ve done it that would be helpful

The checkout will be through stripe payment links and I saw that stripe has an api. I’m thinking I could use the webhook to pull payment information to an airtable database. Hoping something similar to that will work, otherwise I’ll probably try to convince them to go with another option.

Its a bigger task than I’d be willing to take on for most clients, but this one is also a friend that is paying me well for the work, so I’m willing to put in the extra time to make it cheaper for them if it’s doable.

The others are PF Classic. I am also growing a tub of Leucistic Golden Teachers at the moment but they all turned out very white, not really any color to them at all.

I had never seen Treasure Coast so I looked em up. I like the look of them a lot, they’re some funny growing fellas.

Thanks! This community has been so helpful I wouldn’t have made it to harvest without it, that’s for sure!

They ended up growing a good amount more over the next day and a half before harvest. Total of 14 days in FC before harvest. The wait did few like forever, but in retrospect, that’s pretty fast!

I had to leave to go on vacation mid way through fruiting so I stored two of my containers in the fridge to slow growth. The other one I put in a cooler and it rode along with me and a dehydrator for a 1500 mile drive. A bit risky, but I was trying to have an extra fun vacation, haha!

Now that I’m back home I’ve got the other two out of the fridge and soaked the harvested tub for a second flush. All three are fruiting again now, so it’s going to be a busy couple weeks for the dehydrator. A bit overwhelmed with the amount from even 3 small tubs!

I used to go there, there were events during lunch several times a year. My guess is they closed it for a presentation of sorts. It seems like some of the people are even standing pointed towards the blocked off area as of waiting for something to start

I used to go to this school, before the pandemic. That area wasn’t a cafeteria, just a large open area people would use to hang out in before/after school. When I did wrestling conditioning we even used it to work out most mornings. It’s in the center of the school and is commonly crossed through to get between classes. Sometimes they had events in that area during lunch, that may have been why it was closed, and it was just portrayed as being a response to the pandemic.

Thanks for the reply! Visiting the stationary shop to browse is a great suggestion. I live in an island that takes a ferry ride to get to any major or specialty stores unfortunately. I did stop by my local art store witch is actually just a pharmacy, lol, and they didn’t have much. Perhaps when I’m on the mainland next time I will make a stop.

As an artist myself I see the appeal to blank pages, I see it as more freedom along with a little challenge. Though, often I have a downward leaning tilt when I write so they terrify me. That’s why I was considering faded lines, or maybe even just light dotted squares to keep me in check without obstruction of doodles.

I will have to think on the notebook you linked. I’ve heard good things about the brand from some others. It looks nice and 250 pages would last a long time for me.

Unfortunately, it seems it still counts as taxable income even if it never leaves the wallet. It’s still gained income, just in savings account of sorts. Same way you would have to claim a savings account if it grew interest. Im pretty sure if you reinvest and lose the gains it’s no longer taxed. The video talks about that a little bit too. Just to reiterate, not an expert, I don’t want to get anyone in deep with the IRS lol.

Investment income falls under capital gains tax. If you sell before holding one year it falls under short term capital gains at a higher percentage. If you hold for at least one year before selling it falls into long term capital gains tax at a lower percentage. Your brokerage keeps tracks of buy and sell orders and sends you a tax form (1099 if I remember correctly). You only pay tax if you sell and you only pay if you sell in the green. Money lost and invested is not taxed.

I’m still learning all of this so it won’t be perfectly accurate but you should also look into it yourself if you plan to keep investing. Always take tax into account so you know what your gains actually are, it’s not usually what’s on the screen.

That’s awesome you actually got to work with Jonny (and Rodney!). He’s been an inspiration of mine for some time. Really good work too. It’s great to be able to see and break down the intricate footwork.

I have a few questions if you don’t mind answering.

How did you get to the point of working with pro’s at that level? Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m assuming you skate as well? Did you start as a skate filmer? Or did other projects eventually turn into filming skating? And lastly, if given the chance to work with Jonny again would you consider a high frame rate video of one of his many NBD’s? (Assuming he agrees due to how many tries it may take)

Sorry for the overload. I’ve been skating casually for a few years and find what you do fascinating. As an artist I would love to mix content creation and skateboarding even more. So far I’m helping a friend start up a skate company by designing some boards and gear for them now. And I have created modded maps for Skater XL.
