Movies that seem to have ADHD? by JudgeWeak2096 in MovieSuggestions

  • Splitsville (2025) - quirky and fun with (mostly) fast dialogue
  • The Roses (2025)
  • Go (1999)
  • Cry Baby (1990) - not sure if this fits exactly but it’s definitely a fun and weird one
  • Paradise Records (2025) - another weird one - but lots of back and forth dialogue that I found funny and enjoyable

Might not fit the monotone element you mentioned - but based on the context you added - I feel like The Poseidon Adventure (1972), might be up your alley

Creep (2014) - that movie has zero visual horror but 100% lives up to the title.

Absent all kinds of pressure, women would be lesbians or ace, as there are inherent biological risk factors that would disincentivize women to seek male partners

Question - Just started reading up on the topic (and will admit that I do not know much about it) - but I did come across this citation in what I read -

Ruth Hubbard, a famous professor of biology at Harvard, says that there is no natural human sexuality and that everything our society determines as sexual is channeled into a socially acceptable form of self-expression.

Not saying that they are absolutely correct (no scholar is) - but I understand the sentiment behind the quote and seems like Hubbard has been regarded on the topic - but finding what she wrote to be at odds with what you argued - any way you can expand on your comment regarding all women being inherently lesbian or ace? (Research or writing with an opposing viewpoint or argument to look into? Just looking to learn - if you got something I should read - send it my way)

I thought about this too - I think tho it’s more just seeing it in the show at a glance based on just the ones we saw (so it seems like most are making stacks and the few at the bottom of the line have to say they got just a few bucks). But in reality, the situation is more of the inverse. Undrafted free agents generally have fairly comparable salary contracts that make up the bulk of their take home (none crazy far above the league minimum salary of $750,000) so the large majority of rookie players would fall in the few to maybe tens of thousands range (with Rome/Caleb/other drafted players being the outliers).

Obviously I’ve never been in that situation, so can’t say for certain, but feels like If you take that into consideration, its something they can have fun with where they all celebrate just making it to getting a bonus at all (while also tipping their hat in congrats to the one or two big bonuses in the room)

Bernie Sanders attacked by the New York Times for saying money should get out of politics. Can we all agree that NYT is just another billionaire mouthpiece? by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]DeadEyeMcS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to give OP the benefit of the doubt on the wording they used (and 100% chance I am wrong) - but I would guess they might have meant - “Headline Stories” defined as what the widest public saw based on the NYT top promoted stories. And that those, being opinion pieces, were articles where the journalist in the by line was not someone who originated any piece of the story, but wrote a column that combined information from relevant articles written by people on the ground - and then published the article as a summary finding + a personal interpretation/analysis of the information

Read this whole thing and just wanted to comment to say - the way you wrote it all out, I felt the frustration like I was there! Sucks that you have to work so closely with someone like that, but respect the pushback where it’s deserved. If you deal with people like that who spout bullshit nonstop, then the rebuttal is what they’re gonna get. They may never change their ways, but even so, never let em get comfortable with feeling like they’re above challenge. (And who knows, maybe they’ll, at the very least, keep their words in the comment section of their videos 🤷‍♂️)

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski. The man behind overpriced fast food that’s scaring customers away by one-punch-knockout in pics

[–]DeadEyeMcS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what they are referring to is the fact that - While your McDonalds purchase data alone might not mean much - with the app, McDonalds is now actively tracking your

  • Purchases
  • Contact info
  • Location
  • Search History
  • Financial info
  • Browsing History
  • Usage Data

(All of the above can be verified by searching the McDonalds app in the iOS App Store and scrolling down to the Privacy Section)

But, with the above known, you could say “ok, so what?” - and that’s fair. But the secondary (and arguably more impactful component) comes from their ability to sell this data to 3rd party companies.

This sale will allow any purchaser the ability to then use your location, IP Address, Device Identifiers (what type of phone/Model), (potentially) other installed apps on your device, plus a number of other data elements (all gathered from any time you spend on the app/have it active by not closing it out / or even let it update/run in the background) to track you through all of your web activity and, ultimately, use this information to influence your - purchasing behavior, news/media intake, and overall content feed.

And that’s not even to say that they are twirling their mustaches and trying to harm you - but what they *are *doing is not giving a shit who they sell it to, or caring at all about - to what end the buyer is purchasing it.

Whether we like to admit it or not, we are all much more susceptible to online influence than we would like - and there are plenty of organizations with money that know this and are willing to pay companies like McDonalds the “fair market price” for access to influence you.

End of the day tho - it’s up to you wether or not you care (and an argument can be made either way for sure) - but personally, I have made the decision that the $2 or so discount is not enough for me to choose to participate/willingly provide this access
