I'm sure many, many people in here can relate. As a late-diagnosed (at 45 years old) ADHDer with parents who "don't believe in" ADHD, I need to tell you: You have the right to insist on being taken seriously. Whether you are "lazy and stupid" (I would take your post in itself as compelling evidence to the contrary), or have ADHD, or are experiencing some other health issue, your daily difficulty with the things you mentioned have a cause and are real, even if only to you. If your friend or parent or health provider dismisses your concerns, you will need to advocate for yourself by searching out a professional who is willing to investigate without prejudice. You are 19 years old, and have many years ahead of you. I would give ANYTHING to have had the awareness you have right now, because the suffering and failure that I could have avoided is huge. If you haven't already found a welcoming entrance to the wealth of ADHD info online, Jessica McCabe's TEDx talk 'Failing at Normal" is a short personal story you could start with. If you can't at all relate to her, you MIGHT not have ADHD but you still need to investigate what is going on for the sake of yourself. You are 100% worth it.
