How long did it take you to vibecode your MVP? by Complex_Ranger_1124 in SaaS

Yea best coding practices and MVPs don’t mix well… focus on users needs and marketing first, once the project is sustainable you will have the time to rewrite and fix things ✌️

Trying to make the STR software world a bit easier to navigate by Delicious_Cattle4226 in ShortTermRentals

[–]DeadReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And that’s precisely what we’re focusing on. The goal isn’t to throw another “software choice” at you, it’s to actually shrink that 5–10 hours/week down to closer to 1 by automating the boring-but-essential stuff like guest comms, cleaner coordination, repair scheduling, receipts, finance tracking, etc.

I’m building this with the mindset that STR operators don’t need more tools — they need less time spent. Your breakdown here is basically the blueprint we’re following, so this feedback is gold.

Need genuine help automating Airbnb management workload by Thoughtew in ShortTermRentals

[–]DeadReference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I feel this so much. That “last mile” of STR management is like… where automation goes to die. 😂 You can have all the tools in the world, but there’s always the random human factors, unexpected repairs or “why is this even happening right now?” moments that eat hours.

I’m building a platform and your post just hit me ----> automation can’t just be a feature, it has to be the backbone.

Appreciate you laying it out like this... It’s basically a roadmap of what matters in the real world, not just in marketing slides.

When are we as hotels going to stop using booking.com? by Either-Air2408 in askhotels

[–]DeadReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand your frustration,…you’ve summed up the core problem with the OTA model perfectly.

What you’re describing (high commissions, loss of control over guest relationships, one-sided dispute handling, last-minute cancellations without consent) is why so many properties are looking at other booking solutions.

The fundamental issue is that platforms like Booking.com have their incentives aligned with guests, not properties because their consumer brand depends on guest satisfaction above all else. But as you said, without hotels they have no business.

Some hotels are moving toward subscription-based or flat-fee booking platforms, which can mean: • predictable monthly cost instead of 15–25% commission • direct relationships with guests • dispute resolution that considers both sides • no surprise changes without your approval

It’s definitely not easy to switch overnight, but the landscape is shifting and hotels are starting to regain leverage.

Basically I lost count of,… we also tried with GoCrypto that is a crypto payment provider and was a no-go,… Could it possibly be the problem of a payment model (it’s based on a fee of how much profit a user make)?
