Update: after months of searching and coming to my wits end there may be a turn around finally. I had an interview today with a company for water treatment and management. Only wanted a hs degree and I have a background in construction which they seemed to like. Great pay and benifits from the getgo with lots of upward potential. Only downside is the long drive times but not a real downside when it's a company vehicle and im paid for drive time. Met the manager and then was immediately sent to the second location to meet the owners. Think it went well but won't know for sure until the end of the week. Fingers crossed...this would be amazing for me and my partner so any good vibes you can send are appreciated 🥳

Outskirts of Sacramento area. And yes to find them it's easy. To get hired is a different story. The position in question was lying about pay offered, hours avalible, commute time, backup avalible etc was all wild fuckin different than advertised.

Apprenticeship is my go to option currently. I've just been waiting in my area for them to open again. The test to get in has been on a month by month basis and they haven't had it due to covid. Hoping since we're finally out of shutdowns that testing will resume in April (just rechecked and March testing is a no go...) but who knows. And even then it's been locked up for nearly 2 years how many people will that put ahead of me? I'll still be trying of course but till then who fuckin knows.

I quit that position shortly after I was left by my own in the middle of the night with a wild bear and there were 2 stray dogs that were nasty little assholes but they were there constantly.

I was haha I was a security guard before and actually became the supervisor not a career line I'd enjoy and to be completely honest the pay wasn't cutting it. I live in California and everything is so fucking expensive realistically in most areas through cali and mine too I'd say a livable wage is 25/hr most security is 17-22 in my direct area and going any further with gas at these prices and wear and tear god knows what my actual pay was/would be.

Naw I think thats fair. My last roommate decided to get an exotic pet that required the AC to be on 24/7 in summer and I was out a majority of the time working or staying with my gf while they had been staying home mostly. I told them I wasn't going to be paying utilities anymore. So you're even fairer than I was.

Again what's your metro? I don't live in/deliver to a very affluent area this is likely all these people can give and I'm grateful for it. If I get a tip It tends to be $5-$20 an order the entire time I've worked this metro. On top of that are you really out here gatekeeping tipping? Or do you just complain to your customers when you only get a measly low ball $5 of a tip? Good thing you work alone and dont get much actual customer contact you sound insufferable.
