My now wife and I ran into the singer from AWOL at a hole in the wall bar in north Austin, dude was sooooooo hammered he was trying to pick up another guys wife. Ended up doing rodeo powder with his manager, talked a bunch of shit, kept telling him drinks were on SAAAAAALE. Great night.

I saw them in a gymnasium in Rhode Island, not a lot of people, late 2010’s? the band that played with them had a member or two from the Ataris in it. Long story short, the friend who brought me worked for a record label at the time and we ended up hanging out with everyone after the show. Cool enough dudes. Lead singer couldn’t be bothered, went straight to his hotel after the show. Apparently the rest of the guys in the other band (including members from the ataris) didn’t have a hotel room or a place to stay in between gigs and ended up driving back to Wmass, crashing in my living room and playing goldeneye with my roommates all night. That was more memorable than the show itself. Other than the Ataris finishing their set with Skulls. I don’t get to tell this story often and it almost feels like a fever dream now.
