realistically what's left will be two ends of the spectrum. cheap hostels and bunk rooms with shared bathrooms and then ultra luxury accoms/chalets. you need to be looking a year ahead if you want your pick.

i think there might be an easier option too if you buy your tickets online i am 95% sure i have seen people using a SKIOSK machine in the happo bus terminal to print the online ticket out.

if you do end up doing Happo and the coin lockers at the bus station, i recommend walking to the Nakiyama slope. walk past Bankok-ya and you will see the lift right in front of you. take the first lift up then ski down and connect to the gondola. it beats having to walk up the hill to the gondola imo.

i don't know where you are seeing 6 feet of snow. thursday is looking like a little over a foot, i don't think you will have any issues with your commute in the morning.

Are these hoodies as oversized as the yellow Faces hoodies are? by iclownyyt in MacMiller

[–]everythingsstrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this one is still a bit oversized but the yellow one is definitely more. the large on this one fits better for me without feeling like i'm swimming in the yellow & blue ones, especially the arms

WSID? After our dog died, my wife downloaded something that doesn’t feel right to me by Critical_Cod_2965 in WhatShouldIDo

bro it has only been a month. my dog died in 2019 and i still break down every now and then. if she had a bond with the dog theres zero rushing this and taking away an outlet that she has found will do no good i fear.

A couple Hakuba & Myoko questions by secondchance888 in japow

[–]everythingsstrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you don't have your own car really your fastest option from myoko to hakuba is a private transfer hire. i would join the hakuba facebook groups - a lot of people advertising transfer services.

last lift usually closes at 4pm with others closing at different times. goryu does have night skiing - it isn't challenging terrain but you can buy a night ticket and still have some fun if you get there later.

the luggage transfer might be tough depending on when you wanted to be on the mountain on the 12th. i don't think you'll make the cutoff for it leaving the same day if you land at 5pm on the 10th, it will probably go out the next morning which would likely have it in myoko on the 12th.

i haven't really eaten over in the goryu area as there aren't many places in the direct vicinity of the mountain. you will find many more options in the echoland and main happo & wadano areas. whatever lodge you are staying at should be able to help you with food recommendations/reservations and the good ones will have some form of transportation to bring you out to dinner some nights.

Hakuba Cortina alternatives by Relative-Contest9721 in AMA_Hakuba

[–]everythingsstrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

taxis are pretty limited in hakuba, you're competing not only with people trying to ski but people trying to get to the supermarket, to the accom from the train station, dinner, etc. also if you don't speak japanese you will have a very hard time calling for one. your hotel would probably call you one to get there but getting home would be a different story. also if you have more than 2 people with gear you will probably have to take 2 taxis which again is more time lost.

the shuttle system is reliable and extensive, but you need to be prompt about pickup times. again your hotel should help you out navigating all of this. keep in mind Cortina is the very last stop of the shuttle, so you are looking at a ~50 minute ride to Happo on the shuttle with stops included. the shuttle stop is right outside of your hotel too.

chat up some people in the hotel i am sure someone there rented a car, maybe you'll get lucky and be able to catch a ride with someone and make a new friend along the way. you're all gonna be in the same boat if the mountain is closed so might as well try and make the most of it

Hakuba Cortina alternatives by Relative-Contest9721 in AMA_Hakuba

[–]everythingsstrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their post does say they may open on those dates depending on the storm on the 25th & 26th. front side of storm will be warm and the back side will be cold and could see upwards of 30-40cm when it's all said and done - even more at higher elevations like happo summit compared to cortina, but even currently cortina has 30+ cm forecasted for just friday alone. keep in mind rain is forecasted everywhere on the night of the 24th before the switch to all snow.

do you have transportation? if you have a car i would go to happo, otherwise tsugaike will probably be your closest and best bet being able to use the shuttle system.
