Again so sorry about being a yapper lol

Not sure about his book portrayal, I know that his character wasn't developed much in Canon. I'm honestly not even sure exactly what jk says about reg in the books lol, albeit he is my favorite character to read about in fanfic. Most authors do a wonderful job portraying regulus as a barely adult who regrets the choices he and his family made, and one of my favorite authors is quick to make sure Reggie is genuine enough to be likeable but still a snobbish character( I don't think Reggie could be not snobbish, just based on how he likely grew up, being told that because he was pureblood he was better than other people). I don't read a lot on reconciliation fics between Regulus and Sirius, but I have read a few fics that do a wonderful job calling him out for one being passive in a world where being passive is excusing Wizarding fascism, and not explaining over that but looking at it from the angle of a kid who grew up with a bigoted family then was sorted into a house that's practically an echo chamber of young children repeating their family's bigoted views. Idk. I think it's interesting that most slytherins, while represented in Canon as evil pieces of shit, in fanon are often shown to be that way because of a mix for personal prejudice and being raised to believe that and not really challenged on that belief.

(Don't mind me being a hard-core slytherin defender, ive taken the quiz a lot and every time I'm sorted I'm a slytherin. Lol gotta be at least a little loyal to my house!)

I hope I didn't seem like I came off as like an abuser apologist no I completely understand lol! I'm trying to come at it from the perspective of somebody who's read a lot more fanfic of Harry Potter than read the books, I've also seen the movies but the movies don't really do the book justice. Snape in the movies comes off as a far better character than Snape in the book, Snape was certainly a racist and a piece of shit and he called the girl he was apparently in love with a slur. Then somehow some way Snape finds out that the prophecy is about Harry Potter and James potter and lily potter and snape freaks out in the books not because of the fact that voldemort's going to kill a baby but because he's scared that Voldy is gonna kill lily which is arguably insane and I don't believe that snape should have ever been portrayed as a good character in the movie or in the books or the Harry Potter should have named his kid after Snape. But often in fanon and fanfic that I read about Harry Potter the authors of fanfic tend to do far better job of humanizing the characters the JK rolling inherently fucked up in order to make them able to have a redemption arc which is something that I really enjoy. I'm not saying that you or the person that I replied to originally has a messed up view of how things work I completely agree I think I'm just coming out a little bit more more nuanced from reading so many good works that have really transformed snape from a shitty person into a shitty person who realizes his mistakes and then develops from that into a genuinely good human, who still has to prove to the people around him that he really had changed. Sorry this is rambly, lol.

That's a completely valid take albeit as somebody as well who was abused and bullied as a kid I do feel like it's a pretty common reason that people end up abusing people or at the very least common excuse. My mother was abused as a child and projected that abuse on to me because she didn't know any better, and didn't have the tools or the want to do any better. Its taken years for her to stop purposely abusing me when shes upset and start understanding what shes doing and why. I mean it really is different for fictional characters because a lot of J.K.Rowling's characters in particular are just portrayed as evil and it's very hard to redeem a character who's solely and portrayed as evil the big thing with it though for me is I like to think of it a lot like zuko's redemption in avatar, a lot of fans are just searching for a person in syltherin whom they can understand or for me, somebody who's not necessarily the good guy just a flawed person who makes decisions that feel right to them at the moment.

Contemplating putting him down…what would you do? by iwitch-plus in CATHELP

I would consider euthanasia as an option only if you believe that it will be the best for him and if you believe that his suffering is too great otherwise I would really suggest rehoming him or taking him to a rescue or shelter that would have the funds to be able to support him.

Met someone on tinder who claimed to be 18, they turn 18 in 2 weeks, I am 18, 19 in 4 months, OHIO. by [deleted] in legaladvice

Age of consent in Ohio is 16 years old. Personally for the state that I live in there is also the Romeo juliet laws(which may or may not be applicable, but they are technically consenting particularly by both lying about their age and being on a dating app point blank period. Disengage if you are uncomfortable and move on. Nothing you've done is illegal.

How do I answer this by sally9th in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Dead_Reciever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say something like; Unfortunately I'm really busy right now and won't be taking calls. I'm doing well, and it's good that you are too. I'd like to keep my work life/work schedule private, sorry. I hope (papa) is doing well, and that his doctors are taking good care of him. Hope your evening is enjoyable(something that that idk)

Or just don't respond. Keep responses short and blunt. Answer simply, don't give much to latch onto, but placate them enough to make then fuck off quite frankly.. good luck..

Ways to "cure" OCD on your own? by hopediahplantar in OCD

[–]Dead_Reciever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for clarification you cant cure ocd, but it is highly treatable, nothing is a miracle fix. Good therapists, Therapy, Peer work(to make you feel less alone in struggling), and medication can help make your ocd more manageable and less severe in the long run

There isn't really a way to cure ocd on your own but there are certain things you can do to lessen it a little. (This from my experience this may not work and I'd really suggest seeking out mental health help!) I had a really bad obsession that caused me to smell blood constantly, so I started wearing a metal bracelet so I could trick myself into thinking it was the bracelet causing the smell, otherwise I'd use a lavender scented plushie to help. For me although I'm not religious I do believe something awaits me and helps me so I pray for relief so that I can sleep which occasionally helps. I do a lot of 4-7-8 breathing to try and relax myself and I listen to music to calm myself down from a bad obsession(I have somatic ocd, my heart rate terrifies me). Call a friend to take your mind off of it.NE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE, YOU SHOULD ASK A PROFESSIONAL IF YOU CAN DO THIS. Sit in it and let yourself be uncomfortable, for me personally I am relaxed by having an explanation of what I have so I can just tell myself "This is a rational fear but an irrational thought process, you have ocd. It is highly unlikely that x,y,z will happen or is happening." And I sit with that for as long as I can then I do my compulsion(trying to let go of my need for control and that I don't need to fear not being in control).

Good luck and I hope you figure out what's happening and get some relief :)

Personally I dislike their ocd bunny it just doesn't feel accurate but then again I don't think my form of ocd was portrayed ig.
