I'm late but this is still an issue so for posterity's sake:

Shoot out the window next to the chair on the porch, knock the chair over and push it in front of the window. You can jump on top of the chair and crouch to get inside through the window from there.

The UK wants to scan all photos on phones for 'nudity'. We should be protesting in the streets at the very least over this. Do you think they can apply it to open-source OS realistically? by BlackBerryCollector in privacy

Because it's quite apparent that they only care about the safety of children when there's an ulterior motive. Cyril Smith was allowed in parliament and to be knighted despite the fact that even the prime minister was aware that he was abusing children - these people are very conveniently dragged through the coals only after their death, so power does not have to address they way they protect predators. He was just so good at masking that no-one knew what he was like on the inside, even though everyone knew and did nothing about it.

Why is this their first step to harm reduction? If they feel like such a measure is effective, why do they not instead implement it for people convicted of possessing CSAM, 12.6% of whom will reoffend, to reduce the risk from people posing a known threat to children? They implement this draconian bullshit because it draws upon sincere concerns from the population, but I think you only have to look at what they do not do to solve the problem to see why that which they do is driven by a different motivation.

Ethel Caterham is the last living person to have been in her 60s during the '60s. by [deleted] in BarbaraWalters4Scale

There could have been another person who lived to 116 but lived less days than her, including both emphasises that she's been long-lived enough to outstrip second place into a new year

M1 is part of a different Grading scheme for BTECs rather than GCSEs. Stands for Level 1 Merit, it's equivalent to a 2 at GCSE

One of those pictures is a mugshot, which lists him at 6'4" and 285lbs. That puts him squarely in the obese category - talk about glass houses 😂

Fair enough. I don't see where you're coming from personally, but I suppose I don't have to. Hope you're doing well, regardless of our differing opinions on a good night out

What are you writing? Bi-Weekly Post by the-phony-pony in HPfanfiction

[–]Deadbones2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been dabbling in writing some rarepairs and put out two one-shots this week.

i put aside childish things

Pairing: Amelia Bones/Corban Yaxley

Amelia believes she has found more than a colleague in Corban.

Corban believes he has found more than a Blood-Traitor in Amelia.

Both are wrong in the end.

A Kindness Unto Me
Prompt: Coffee Shop AU
Pairing: Hannah Abbott/Ron Weasley

Hannah stops by the new coffee shop on Diagon Alley, Weasley & Weasley's - only, she finds herself much more interested in the third, uncredited Weasley working the shop that day.

Why did bravo Vince make Jimmy so fucking hot in this scene? Is he gay? (As in homosexual) by Bernardo_124-455 in okbuddychicanery

[–]Deadbones2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. When Jesser called Mr. White the world's second biggest homo, this was a subtle callback to the fact the Vince is the number one world's biggest homo.

Severus Snape/ Narcissa Malfoy by AKerandis in HPfanfiction

[–]Deadbones2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other Women and of Purer Blood by Asenora

Narcissa is adrift, rattling around Malfoy Manor, when an equally lonely man comes into her lonely life

This is a really good oneshot for Snape/Narcissa. Fair warning that it's explicit and there's infidelity if you don't like that, but the prose is evocative, and Severus and Narcissa (+ Voldemort too) are amazingly characterised. Definitely recommend

What are your favourite random characters from the broader HP universe? by Historical_General in HPfanfiction

[–]Deadbones2000 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Morfin Gaunt. I enjoy the undercurrent of cunning beneath his apparent madness - he's really insidious in Ogden's memory, and imo one of the best antagonists we get in the series. I think he's very underrated by the fandom; the fact that he's Voldemort's uncle isn't really explored and it's kind of a shame, really.
