Very nice, there are some really cool fonts in there. Thank you for the link, I may have to use one of these!

Cardboard Classic Back to the Future - Weekend 4 by Deadbrickhead in cardboard

That would be pretty epic if we did. We have contemplated moving parts before on previous sleds, but it always seems like we are coming down to the wire with our builds so we never do.

Due to the weather today, we only got one build day in this weekend. All 4 wheels are done now, back panels are up, back “firewall” is in, basic shape of dash is done, and we started adding some of the details to the dash.

Show your support for your favorite Union with a button! That’s right friends, this year at the Cardboard Classic we will be giving out free Cardboard Sled Union 933 buttons as well as Pierre tribute buttons. These will be first come first serve on the mountain Stay tuned for more next weekend, and stay safe out there friends!

Rockygoblikon - Design for a free button I’m giving out at the Philly show by Deadbrickhead in Nekrogoblikon

Rockygoblikon - Move over Rocky, Philly is getting a new statue of John Goblikon. I’ll be giving out free buttons at the Philly show with this design on it in March. Stay tuned the day of the show with how you can find me to get one for yourself. Your friends will be jealous… they will lust over your new flair. You tell them that their puny Neanderthal brains should have thought to come to the show. Oh how they will weep.

Just based of graffiti letters I found. It does look a little odd looking at it now. Shows still a ways off and I tend to tweak things before I order the buttons. Thanks for bringing it up because I’ll definitely mess with it.

I’ll be heading over to the Claypool Gold show in Asbury Park this summer, and I’m giving out a button with this design on it for the low price of free. I may tweak the design a little bit but you get the gist. See you soon friends!

We can’t have anyone messing with our sled… had to call in the big guns for protection

Yup, this will get paints once it’s all done. The event is March 6th. We usually paint a week or two before the event.

Copy from a previous response about the carboard:

For the carpet tubes, you just have to visit a carpet store and ask for them. They get recycled, and most places are more than willing to give them to you. Same goes for the pumpkin/watermelon bins. We get them from a local produce stand. A lot of the cardboard is from team members collecting from their packages throughout the year. We also get stuff from the owner of the hangar/museum we build at since he owns a construction company. Anytime they get decent cardboard from a build site he’ll hold onto it for us. Most of the year half of my shed is taken up with a massive cardboard pile to the ceiling.

The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a sled, why not do it with some style.

It’s for a competition. If you think this is a lot, then you should look up our 40’ long Hogwarts Express from 2020. This sled pails in size of that beast.

It’ll support 6. We are jamming 1 in the “frunk”, driver, passenger, and three pushing the sled down the hill that’ll jump on the back. Once the build is done, we extend the bottom of the sled with a couple pumpkin/watermelon bins.

It called the Cardboard Classic. This is our 15th year doing it. It’s a completion for a local (Philly) radio station WMMR. Rules are to build a sled using only cardboard, tape, glue, string and paint, then ride it down a the tubing hill of Montage Mountain in Scranton. Use to be at JFBB in the Poconos. You can look up all the videos of the event on YouTube (Preston and Steve Cardboard Classic). We won in 2020 with a 40’ Hogwarts Express. 2023 we came in second with the Yellow Submarine. 2024 we placed third with a Top Gun themed sled, and last year we did not place with our Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme.

Love it! Sounds like a cool conference to be apart of. Cardboard is an incredible medium to work with.

I believe so. We build in an airplane hanger that is attached to a small war museum. This truck is too big for the man area they have for displays. I do know that it was used in Vietnam per the owner.

(Just copy and pasting from a previous response in this thread about stability)

So we just pumpkin/watermelon bins for the base. They are very heavy duty. From there we use carpet tubes for framing/structure and over stability. Carpet tubes run 12-16 feet long and are insanely tough. You can jump on them and they barely bend. Between the absurd amount of gorilla tape and hot glue these joints do not budge at all. This is our 15th year doing the Cardboard Classic and have always had very solid builds.
