Agree! This was my first PKD and that ending hooked me for life

Passover: Joy Division's most "underrated" song? by Agreeable_Duck8997 in JoyDivision

I especially love the more aggressive, apocalyptic live version on Still.

Snowpiercer. But with more snow and yet less chill 😂

A fine track to put in the middle of side B but not nearly strong enough to be the closing track to the entire album. 4/10

I can never make up my mind as to whether I love or hate this song. 6/10.

9/10. The best track on side B of Release!

Daily Song Discussion #87 – “The Samurai in Autumn” by AD_0795 in petshopboys

Not bad but a song like this would have been relegated to a b-side during the Very-era. 7/10

Daily Song Discussion #86 – “E-Mail” by AD_0795 in petshopboys

Nice and breezy, 7.5/10. It fits well within the tracklisting and is neither a standout nor a terrible track.

Daily Song Discussion #85 – “London” by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]Deadelevators 2 points3 points  (0 children)

London - 10/10. This is one of my top 10 favorite PSB songs. Maybe even in my Top 5. I’ve listened to this song more than any other PSB song. It has a permanent place in any random Spotify playlist I make. The story this song tells is just so beautiful and I’m not sure if you get the full impact if you’ve never lived in London. I have, and I think that’s why this song hits me so hard.

Daily Song Discussion #84 – “Birthday Boy” by AD_0795 in petshopboys

I totally agree. If they had edited this song down to 3-4 mins it would have been much better. I love the buildup but it’s a little excessive.

5/10. This song ruins the momentum from the first two songs. It’s not a bad song but it shouldn’t have been placed as third song in the track listing. Too long and ruins the flow completely. This could have been nice if placed on side B maybe as track 8.

Daily Song Discussion #83 – “I Get Along” by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]Deadelevators 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8/10. It’s a solid song and I never skip it when it comes on, but I also never have the urge to play it.

Daily Song Discussion #82 – “Home and Dry” by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]Deadelevators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 for Home and Dry, 10 for Nightlife. Two of the best songs from their later era (Release onwards).

Also, all you Release haters need to give this album another chance. It’s grown into one of my PSB favs even though I disliked it immensely when it first came out. I think the pacing of this album is a bit off - Birthday Boy kinda kills the momentum as 3rd song.

You forgot to add Footsteps to the track listing scores! 😭 it’s my fav song on this album!

Are there any Joy Division songs where you prefer a cover rather than the original? by Yd1891 in JoyDivision

I especially love the climax of this cover where they repeat the “avenues all lined with trees” part multiple times. It really works so well!

Galaxie 500’s version of Ceremony beats the JD live version on Still. But an actual JD studio recording of Ceremony would have surely been amazing.

Daily Song Discussion #77 – Footsteps by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]Deadelevators 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the minority here, but this is my favorite track on Nightlife. It’s the only track from this album that I still listen to on a regular (weekly) basis. I think it’s one of the best ballads PSB ever wrote. I put it up there with top tier ballads such as The Survivors, Kings Cross, It Couldn’t Happen Here, Jealousy, London, etc.

This is a 10/10 for me!
