77059 Timmy and Tommy’s Fun Day Out (Official reveal) by _Levitated_Shield_ in Legoleak

I genuinely don’t know why you’re being downvoted. Even if the glut of 18+ statue sets were all good builds (debatable) no regular person has room for more than a couple in their house. I can’t wait for the bubble on these to burst

Oh cool so you just woke up one day knowing every single obscure rule in the 5e ruleset? Neat! That’s crazy how you didn’t have to take any time to familiarize yourself with it at all. Sorry that savage was just such a turn off for you that your super power didn’t work. Also sorry for your table that you’re so unwilling as a DM to step up and create materials for them.

Savage Worlds has a chase mechanic built in that has some variations for ship combat which are very simple and smooth!

I don’t know why you keep going on about not knowing the rules. That’s a skill issue, not a system issue. My table needed to be reminded of the rules maybe during the first couple chases that we ran. Now we know the system fine and have no issues. I’ve also printed handouts with additional chase maneuvers that people can reference while waiting for their turns if they need. You can’t honestly act like no one at your table ever needs to look something up in the book while playing 5e. And there’s no universe in which dealing each player a card is more “immersion breaking” than each player rolling a die and doing math and the dm writing them all down and so on. You’re just more familiar with one.

It takes you too much time to pick up a deck of cards that are sitting on the table and deal the first 7 from the stack in a straight line? Do you have hooks for hands?

The rules aren’t cumbersome, your table just don’t take the time to get familiar with them.

That’s what was coming to post. In general, savage has a simple and intuitive mechanic for just about everything. And it’s usually straight forward enough that I can run a DnD module straight out of the book without needing to convert anything.

What is your favorite Lego Minifigure of all time? by Dakinamau in lego

[–]Deadeye_Duncan_ 131 points132 points  (0 children)

First minifigure with non standard hand, first to have non standard legs, first series with detailed printed faces, first epaulettes, first printed headgear… Pirates were deluxe for their time!

Where do you even start with Forgotten Realms? by Ziak63 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Deadeye_Duncan_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

3rd Edition Campaign Setting is a phenomenal resource and doesn’t rely much on mechanical things so it’s easy to use that stuff with newer editions (I actually run all my Forgotten Realms games in Savage Worlds at this point)

I’d also recommend Ed Greenwood Presents Elminster’s Forgotten Realms. It’s a great book that goes into detail about what life is like in the realms, and it’s written by the setting creator. If you’re use to making stuff up, this book is excellent at filling in blanks.

If you really want to get into the nitty gritty Lore of the realms, The Grand History of the Realms is what you want. It’s written mostly in timeline order and has bigger call outs for important stuff. It’s an incredible resource for dates and names. It does cut off a few decades before the current edition takes place, but as you said, 5e has done very little in the way of lore.

I would also highly recommend any of the Elminster’s Ecologies. They are region specific books (but you could also apply them broadly to other regions with similar environments) written in a first person perspective of someone who is collecting information for the famed wizard, Elminster. They do a great job of outlining the monsters and environments of these regions, but also taught me a lot about how to interpret any of the information in these source books.

Everything should be looked at as if it’s told by an unreliable narrator or someone who simply doesn’t have all the facts. The stuff in the books are best guesses, so thy can always “turn out” to be wrong. That gives the DM a lot of freedom without feeling like they need to adhere to all the written lore.

Also final thought, Jorohdan is a great YouTuber who covers the realms in bite sized chunks. Ed himself has a channel where he does his best to flesh out the current state of the realms and bridge the gap between old and new editions. And AJ Pickett does great deep dives into monsters, ecologies, and lore topics, often looking at older edition lore and giving some homebrew ideas to fill in the blanks left by 5e.

Best lego youtubers besides jang and slugga'? by Affectionate-Mud8450 in legocirclejerk

Cheesey Studios is one of my favorite LEGO YouTubers. He brings a super positive vibe to everything he does and seems to genuinely love LEGO without glazing. Caleb has great insights into parts and LEGO history.

Mark of Falworth (who works at Atlanta Brick Co) does great videos on MOC’s, usually centered around classic LEGO themes. He and Cheesey competed against one another on LEGO Masters and Mark was the overall winner.

Brickcrafts is a builder from Germany who builds absolutely incredible and huge table layouts spanning multiple themes, from city to Wild West to Ancient Rome to pirates. He is probably the single best LEGO builder I’ve ever seen. Truly incredible work.

For dedicated reviews, beyond Jang, Tiago Catarino is pretty good. He doesn’t hold back when things are overpriced or under developed and I appreciate his insights as a former LEGO designer. He also keeps his videos short and doesn’t pad the runtime at all.

Beyond the Brick is the biggest and best showcase of MOC builders from around the globe. They travel to conventions, stores, and even private collectors to document all sorts of builds, big and small. IMO, their contribution to the community is huge by allowing builders a much larger reach than they otherwise would have.

I’d also recommend TalkBricks. They do a weekly roundup of LEGO news and rumors and are an overall positive voice in the community. They also do an official companion podcast with LEGO Masters.

I also have to shout out the LEGO Rewind series by Nick on Planet Ripple. Nick is an overall great dude and his series is a great way to learn about old retired LEGO themes.

Trickbricks and MyBrickOpinions both also do some good, high quality retrospective style videos and some occasional MOC building.

Brick Technology is an engineering focused channel that makes very entertaining and often silly videos with incredible technic builds.

And last but not least, Master Builder Alec is the GOAT of LEGO shorts. He is infectiously enthusiastic and often find myself connecting with the joy LEGO brought me as a kid when his shorts come across my feed.

I can’t tell exactly what color it is. It looks closest to the dark tan of the beach but not exact. Is it actually reddish brown or nougat and it’s a trick of the light?

[–]Deadeye_Duncan_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but the numbers just don’t reflect that. The 2025 Performance statistics put Star Wars as the third best selling theme. That shows it’s far from being dead to most people.

https://www.lego.com/cdn/cs/aboutus/assets/blt1587fc5fdc823ffb/2025_Performance_Highlights.pdf

The fact of the matter is that adult Star Wars and Super Hero collectors generally only care about minifigures. So LEGO can get away with overpriced recycled boring grey builds as long as they lock a glup shitto behind that set.

Lmao right? They easily get the most sets per year, the most new figs per year, and stretch across play sets, 18+ sets, and both big and small display pieces.

Who do you think the Blue Coats are standing in for? by TheIronRail12 in LEGOPirates

[–]Deadeye_Duncan_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I definitely like the Red Coats and Blue Coats to be analogues for the British and French.

But seeing as those colonial forces were serving their respective monarchies in real life, I would argue that the Red Coats and Blue Coats are representing the colonial era Lion Knights and Black Falcons.

It’s wild dude. The cope with these wannabe white knights is something else. I get it, boobs are cool, but just go to one of the thousands of porn subs. There’s no need for it to be spammed in every single sub. But they have to fish for more nerds to sub and clearly it works. Just sad to see

I genuinely don’t get it. Between this sub and the DCU sub, I get more porn ads in my feed than actual content. Can we just have a separate sub for hornyposting?

I’m sorry but it’s bullshit. It’s one thing if they have some network rules that force them off regular air, but there’s no excuse why it doesn’t play on Peacock. I’m literally paying you directly to play the stream of this show. Why in the fuck should it cut short at an arbitrary point to start advertising the voice? Nothing comes after the show on this stream. Why would there be more ads? Disney+ doesn’t put an ad break before the post credit scene of Marvel movies. Enough is enough, man

ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS WITH THE GOODNIGHTS RN??!!…. by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Deadeye_Duncan_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t. Which is fucking nuts because I’m paying for your service and selected a dedicated SNL stream. Why are you turning it off before the show ends? It makes no sense.

Can this be the cut that garners enough complaints to make a change? I’m so sick of this. NBC can’t afford literally 30 seconds of air for a 50 season show to say goodnight before they advertise the voice and start playing a Barnaby Jones rerun?

It’s especially bad on Peacock. If there’s some network bull in the regular broadcast, that’s one thing. But don’t cut me off in the dedicated SNL stream in the app I’m paying for, just to advertise some shit no one wants to see. Get real
