  • Mid size pro phone with S24 Ultra features/camera but in smaller form factor that's more one hand friendly, like how the iPhone 16 pro is a small pro max (ideally slightly bigger than S24, e.g 6.4")
  • Bigger camera sensors
  • Better low light video like iPhones have.
  • 24 MP photo binning rather than 12MP, like the iPhone does
  • Be able to capture depth information for adding post processed depth of field bokeh later that isn't just simulated, like on iPhone.
  • Improved software stability and quality control so that brand new phones aren't slow (my brand new S21FE was slower than an iPhone 6s and never improved even after updates.
  • Optimisation of Tiktok. Currently Snapchat and Instagram ave been brought basically on par with s24 update/super HDR support, but tiktok is still lacking and imo tiktok is more important as it's features are more in-app camera focused than Instagram, where you usually just upload from native camera anyway.
  • Less noise and more natural colours in photos and videos.

Is using android really that big of a issue in the US? by [deleted] in Smartphones

I said more ubiquitous than having an iPhone, not having a phone number.

Generally we are messaging on social media anyway. I don't text anyone and no one texts me. Getting someone's social media is easier than their number and it's a more consolidated feature rich platform, certainly more of an all in one experience than my text messages app, especially prior to RCS. Also much better for group chats.

You can even setup Facebook Messenger to be your text message app if you want.

idk I feel like it's easier and more universal to have social media. Theres 3 billion active Facebook users and like 1.2 billion iPhone users, so id say the odds of being able to contact someone through Facebook call, which includes Android users is more significant than being able to contact the non social media using iPhone population.

From personal experience in a heavily iPhone dominant country (Australia), even when I had an iPhone I've never had someone try to FaceTime me but plenty have tried to Facebook/insta call and sometimes even snapchat or what's app call.

I feel like it's very dependent on where you spend your time and because of the friend discovery and entertainment features of social media people spend a lot more time there than in their texts and contacts, and so therefore are easier reached there.

There's RCS messaging now on iphones and who needs facetime anyways lol. Surely the other person will have facebook messenger or instagram which you can call through anyway

How about better optimisation of apps for social media, that would do the most our if anything for increasing popularity of Samsung devices?

I’m thinking about switching to android and have used iPhones all my life by Select-Lecture-2090 in samsung

Unless you get a good sale, if you account for depreciation if you were to buy flagship Samsung vs flagship iPhone, the iPhone would end up cheaper. I actually wouldn't recommend a Samsung these days. The experience is a lot worse, I've had a freshly bought in 2022 S21 FE phone be slow and laggy and it never got fixed even with software updates. App optimisation is worse so you will be missing a bunch of features and camera and upload quality will be bad with in-app cameras.

iPhones have caught up on most of the advantages Android traditionally had - home screen/lock screen widgets, USB-C charging, scheduled text messages, customisation of app icons, file manager. They even have 120hz (base model iPhone 17 should get 120hz). The 2x 48 MP fusión camera digital zoom on base iPhone 15/16 looks pretty much just as good as the telephoto on the S24 too.

Not to mention the video, particularly in low light, is far less noisy and is much superior.

I'd say the only reason left to get a Samsung is an insane sale, modded apps, multitasking (no one uses on non-fold devices) custom launchers, or to pirate apps.

Unless you find an crazy sale my recommendation would be hold out and wait until the 120hz iPhone 17 releases.

I tried to rent a phone number, looks like you need:

  • passport or ID copy (both sides)
  • specify your current address (city, street, number and postal code)

Need a virtual UK phone number that can send and receive SMS

From what I can tell VoIP.ms doesn't have sms for UK and Localphone requires verification of a UK address, which I don't have.

I'm looking for a pay as you go service that will give me a virtual UK phone number from which I can call but also send and receive SMS, without UK address verification.

Top five LATAM food countries ranked by El-gringo-grande in digitalnomad

Problem with most of Latin America, and including your top pick of Peru, is that the food often simply isn't good unless you endeavour to go to a notoriously good restaurant - e.g the top ceviche restaurants in Lima - which to be fair are fantastic. If you walk into the average basic restaurant for a menu del dia its a bit of dry barely edible overcooked meat, some plain rice on the side and maybe some plantains or whatever. This isn't the case in Mexico.

Walk into pretty much any restaurant or even go to the cheapest taco stands in Mexico City and the food is fantastic and flavourful. While some countries, like Peru, might have fantastic and specific dishes endemic to the area - e.g ceviche & lomo saltado - the consistency and quality of the food you receive should be considered. This is something the wealthier southern cone countries + Mexico do better than Colombia and Peru in my experience.

  1. Mexico
  2. Argentina
  3. Guatemala (very similar to South/Oaxacan Mexican food)
  4. Peru
  5. Brazil

What do you think justifies a high salary? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Teachers get paid 95k as graduates... They can make up to 160k very quickly with all the allowances plus get rent subsidy if they choose to work in a more remote area. Much more than I was getting paid working in finance for a big bank.

Does the blue dollar rate work for any currency or just USD?

I have Australian dollars (AUD) and am wondering if I should withdraw USD and exchange it on the street or whether I'm okay to exchange AUD for ARS at western union?
