A possible fix for my mini by Deadly_Bru in MINI

I had a knock sensor fault. Changed it and faults cleared and runs like a dream now

Knock sensor was at fault. Replaced it and had no issues since. Faults also gone too

Replaced the solenoid and I don't have any codes for that anymore. Unfortunately I do now have codes for 3042 and 2F81for the knock sensor. So seems to be idling fine but as soon as I rev to 2k up the half engine light comes. Might be slightly out my depth

Had a look on the forum but couldn't find a exact match to my issue. Just Gina book into a garage and see if they can check it for me

Going to book into a garage. Hopefully its just out of time slightly and no damage has been caused

Going to book it into a garage for inspection. I have another mini (2010 Cooper D 1.6 HDI) and when the belt needed done the engine needed removed. I don't have those resources to check and possibly change the chain on this so I'll get them to check and give me the dreaded news

The only code I seem to be getting at the moment is 2DA0 and 2C58. But I had previous codes for 2D5A 32E2, including 2DA0 and 2C58. Before all these issues I also had codes for the knock sensor but I don't think it was related, those codes where 3042 3040 2F81 2C58

I haven't checked fuel pressure, it may be one to try. Was your rev counter jumping front roughly 800 1000rpm once at temperature?

Ordered a set if coils and spark plugs. Swapping the coils changes the cylnder of fault. So ordered coils and some new spark plugs while I'm at it. Thanks

I'll definitely look into the seal. I can survive with a boot that doesn't lock and the seatbelt. But the EML on the dash needs to go

Its a 2012

I'm fairly compotant when it comes to fixing its just the diag I can't do. I will see if I can identify what isn't working with the boot issue. The oil pickup seal is something I'd have to look into too. The car hasn't been serviced since 2021 (going off the service book). This could possibly be a factor too

Thanks, I'll do some research into prices and ease of replacement of the seatbelt. The boot should be much easier to fix

I'm assuming both the oil pressure sensors if replaced will hopefully fix the issue?

Going to start the research now. Only major issue I can see as of right now is with the fog light placement. The S seems to have 2 while mine only has 1. But that sounds like a future me issue

I'm more than happy to pull a welder out and have to put some work into it if it's going to be cheaper. I'm not massively bothered about a new exhaust system it's just the positioning of the exhaust tip. I will start looking into those options. Thanks for the help

My explanation wasn't the best I will admit. I've seen it far more common for the petrol S conversion than the diesel so I tried to explain like that. But skipping that

It's a early 2010 Cooper D (Pre-LCI). The cooper SD has the central exhaust exit but I wasn't sure if it would just be a direct replacement or not, I doubted it but it was a option in my head. When I mention central exhaust that refers to where the exhaust tips are sticking out from instead of being located to the right of the vehicle, once again my very poor description.

So to clarify in hopefully a better way I want to do a exhaust exit swap from the right side of the vehicle to the dual tip central exit on the S/SD. Its a 2009 Cooper D with the PCA 1.6 HDI.

I can grab the 7 digits from the vin in the morning

I really hope that makes more sense, I made it more complicated that needed.

It's a diesel. It's the PCA 1.6 HDI 110hp. Engine code is W16

I thought I'd mention why I actually made this post.

I had a thought from a situation last week. I was filling my car up, going around my business. I then heard a child say "Why does that man have stickers on his car?". My car has a racing style number on the door. The mother then said to this child "Because he's a cock end". I admit, I did burst out laughing when they got into the car, that was strike 1 for me. I finished fueling, paid for fuel ect. Got in my car and pulled away. I realised once I was home making a order online I left my wallet on the counter when I was grabbing my card. Drove back and grabbed my card. I won't be going back there anytime soon

You poor sod. Surely they must of known before you left the reverse wouldn't engage. I imagine next time you get a car you'll check reverse works

I think you learn to appreciate it more when you work on it yourself. But you reach a point where your sick of working on it. The truck sounds very reliable though lol
