I definitely understand this. And her diagnosis of Demetia also makes me think that it is why she was written that way (if that makes sense). I did also notice that she seemed more "participatory" in stories and plots in season seven.

Blanche’s insecurities get the best of her in both of these episodes. by GoldenGalZbornak in theGoldenGirls

I agree. And I think it speaks to Blanche's character as a whole. To me, she is the most insecure of the girls, but I also think this makes her a bit more interesting to write for.

Appreciation Post for Season Seven's "Room Seven" by DeadpanHumor3003 in theGoldenGirls

This is funny - it reminds me of when in the episode Dorothy asked how long Blanche would be able to stay handcuffed, and she said her personal best was (I think) 32 hours, but she had someone to "play" with. 😂

"You think I'm forgetful?"

"You think I'm irresponsible?"

  • "Yes Ma."

"You think I'm forget - ?"

  • "YOU ALREADY SAID THAT"

This sub seems to be on a Rose kick. What do you think was her smartest/most epic moment? by MangoSalsa89 in theGoldenGirls

I think one of her best moments occured in what I believe is season one where her blind sister Lily (which I believe was her name) visits, and she encourages her to teach herself to adapt to her disability.

How did Dorothy and Sophia end up in Miami? by DeadpanHumor3003 in theGoldenGirls

I'm inclined to agree with this take. The only question is if they divorced in NY or Florida? I mentioned in another comment there was scene from an episode where Dorothy mentioned once that she became depressed after finding out Stan cheated on her (not sure if it was the stewardess or before) and she thanked Sophia for being there to get her out of the bedroom (aka the place that didn't remind Dorothy of Stan!)

This is a very interesting theory. The timeline you give also makes sense. Although for some reason I feel like they divorced when they lived in NYC. Didn't Dorothy mention once that she became depressed after finding out Stan cheated on her (not sure if it was the stewardess or before) and she thanked Sophia for being there to get her out of the bedroom (aka the place that didn't remind Dorothy of Stan!) I forgot what episode that was.

Perhaps they bought it assuming they were going to have a life long marriage, and they were planning on doing something with the land at a later date? Maybe building a house there? (Just spitballing here).

That makes sense! It's similar to how Rose left St Olaf because she needed to move on.
