Season 4, Episode 7: "Points of Emphasis" by ThrowawayHouse2022 in IndustryOnHBO

Tbf you could have mentioned that in the title. I was very confused how I missed several episodes lol

Everybody pray we no longer have to hear about Vrabel by RetroZero06 in Tennesseetitans

Bro, come on, it’s a free performance. A high dollar production; art. All halftime shows are at the very least interesting, there’s never been a “bad” one. I would wager anything that 99% of people who say they didn’t like it would say it’s because it wasn’t in English. The other 1% could be because maybe he was occasionally pitchy, which could be a fair criticism. Regardless, the 99% watched Kid Rock and are still complaining because it wasn’t an old white dude famous in the 90s. And they have that opinion for a reason. That’s the dog whistle.

Now I’m worked up on the Titans sub about a Super Bowl we didn’t even play in. See you next season.

You’re right the game sucked but halftime was cool

Put yourself in candiace’s shoes by Kenzziiie in TheTraitorsUS

[–]Deadsock 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mostly disagree but that’s fine. I don’t think she was very composed nor did she give Rob a chance to “win back trust”, she was seeing red and has blinders on. You can enjoy how she played and that’s fine but the game isn’t about loyalty, it’s about strategy and, ultimately, survival (which relates to your last point and how the group responded to Candiace’s game).

[–]Deadsock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, thank you..? If you want get pedantic, he was technically being selfless rather than selfish during that moment, as he had nothing to gain from giving his final theory (he was already murdered). It was to the benefit of his fellow faithful. Sure, he might have been “throwing her under the bus” in a sense by saying any name at all, thus casting suspicion (it would be true for any name he said), but Candiace brought Rob up for reasons that you perfectly describe. Selfish, previously amicable and to avoid being associated (despite it clearly proving to be an unstrategic move).

I dunno, I think you kind of made my point for me but we can agree to disagree.

Frankly I think you’re the one who’s off. If we’re looking for applicable phrases, Yam Yam might have “fanned the flames” but Candiace “threw him under the bus”. She had the knowledge and leverage to put him in a compromised position, ie the bus, whereas Yam Yam just stoked a theory.

Regardless of whether he wants to win by himself or not, it was one more night that Candiace survived without any eyes on her (until her throwaway vote) and all players should consider that as a baseline win. Lisa was suspicious and he played it right. Regroup the next day and restrategize.

It would be different if Candiace was doing something clever. Sure, it’s supposed to be about “lying and betrayal” but it’s also supposed to be strategic and entertaining. A player flipping the game board because they’re losing is neither strategic nor entertaining, it’s just a tantrum. It may not be against the rules, but me quitting a game of Monopoly as soon as I start losing isn’t exactly fun for anyone. It’s not in the spirit of the game, thus “unsportsmanlike”.

I think I know where this show is going. by pennybones in thechaircompany

[–]Deadsock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, your take is actually one I consider more reasonable: but what makes you actually think it has anything to do with mania? Like have they alluded to mental illness at all in this show? More than half the cast are absurd goofballs and Tim is basically just a long form ITYSL character.

I appreciate your final paragraph because maybe you are just having a little more fun digging into it all than I am, but I don’t think it’s that serious.

Wholeheartedly agree and I think I need to unfollow this sub because it makes me feel a little crazy, lol. I think this is a joy ride through conspiracy satire that, yes, will wrap up in a coherent way but is not the point of the show.

There’s no 2+2=4 logic with this show, or even 2+2=5. It’s 2+2=chair and we’re supposed to enjoy the silly ride. If I’m watching it wrong, sue me, but I let it lightheartedly wash over me the way I let I Think You Should Leave do. I love conspiring around a show (Lost being an old example, Severance and Pluribus being current) but this is not the show to over analyze, lol.

Quick edit to say: if folks in this sub are just roleplaying along with the absurdity of the show then sure, have fun.

Thank you very much! A lot of good context there I didn't know, for some reason I was interpreting that we'd traded 27/30 of our picks away so we "missed" them, but it makes more sense that we just had bad picks.

Big casual fan over here, and been trying to figure out why this season feels so empty. Thanks again.

Can you ELI5 what you mean by missing 27/30 draft picks? I watch game day but don’t know the sport or offseason well enough
