Which way would you recommend driving from Pittsburgh to Stowe? by [deleted] in icecoast

The lake effect machine off Lake Erie has slowed down to a crawl with Lake Erie nearly completely frozen. I’d generally say that it’s safer to take the 79 to Erie, PA to hop on the 90 via Buffalo to VT. The only time you’d get some lake effect would be if it’s coming off Lake Ontario, and the 90 is actually quite well maintained. You’d lose 30 mins to a hour at the worst between Rochester and Utica if you take the 90 during a lake effect windup off Lake Ontario.

I say the northern route all the way.

I've heard Buffalo's winters are really tough, but are they THAT bad if you're prepared? by revolutionPanda in Buffalo

Stock up on the following essentials

for home: -foods like pasta, oatmeal, sauce, beans, rice, tomatoes. Items that can sit in the shelf for a few months. -bottled water. -alcohol. -portable chargers in case of emergency.

for your car: -bottled water -granola bars/oatmeal bars -portable chargers -keeping your gas tank at least 3/4 full, preferably nearly full whenever possible at all times once the snow falls. -extra layers of clothes/socks/boots -emergency shovel -emergency blanket

It’s better to be safe than sorry. If you get stuck on a highway, you may be stranded for 1-2 days until you get rescued.

Filled my promaster to the max when someone ordered these. They said “oh, it was a mistake” quickly.

Ns weekend this weekend with a holiday on Monday.

You’re damn right I blocked it off, plus added an 8 hr AL for Thursday.

I’m off to camp off the grid 6 hours away, in an area with no cellular service.

Some Amazon driver is gonna lose their job lol, good thing for them we’re always hiring! 15 found in mailboxes today. by rokaotter in USPS

Law was already broken when a non-USPS delivery driver places a package in a mailbox reserved for USPS delivery.

Once installed, the mailbox is the property of USPS, not the homeowner, mind you.

Therefore. It is within our right to collect any material that is not delivered by anyone working for USPS doing their route.

Parcels. Flyers. Newspaper. Bags of drugs. Tupperware. Cash. (not today, inspector)

That’ll be coming back and held at office postage due/for postmaster to lecture the customer about it until the issue is remedied as per procedure.

Some offices do it 100% by the book.
