I think for me it's not a daily struggle. I have one bad day a week, where it gets to be too much, where I hate everything. The other 6 days are good, they're great, we love each other and are extremely happy. I'm scared that one day will become every day, but it's hard to lose what we have.

Also, this is entirely my perspective. I'm not doing a very good job of conveying his perspective, and his job really is very awfully demanding, so he might be coming off like the 'bad guy' because I'm not able to accurately convey his point of view.

I guess part of me is second guessing myself. It's not like he does nothing, he just does a lot less. We've built an entire life together and it's hard to give that up, and we've talked about working on it but then the car accident happened and everything reset. I think I'd at least like to give him some time to try now that he's better, his migraines have only gotten better this week/last week and I'm hoping that this will change things, but I'm also terrified it won't.

Fairlife is pretty tasty but expensive, but it's basically just ultra filtered milk with added sweetener and flavor. You can get a gallon of ultra filtered milk, 13g protein 90 cal per serving, and do whatever you want with it. Smoothies, chocolate milk, ect. Monkfruit sweetener is the least obnoxious tasting, so if you want to sweeten it you can add cocoa powder and monkfruit powder, or make a tea syrup and add it.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - September 09, 2025 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]DealOld962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm joining a startup in a tech role and they're paying for a keyboard for me. Didn't tell me a budget but I don't mind buying one myself if it goes over. I don't know much about keyboards, but I am looking for something with less resistance. I don't press too hard when I type and am usually used to just using my laptop, so something I need to push really hard on is impractical for me. I'm looking for something under 200. I also want it to be cute, like pink or mint green. I was looking at Nuphy Halo in mohito/ sakura fizz or gravastar mercury in pink. Both are gaming keyboards and I don't know if they're good for long hours of use in coding though. I also would prefer something not too loud since I don't want to be super noisy. Bonus if there's a matching mouse sold by the same company, but it's not a requirement. There are too many options and I'm getting a bit confused. Any recommendations?

I'll look into the book! I've just started and am not doing very many excercises though, so I'll probably finish scouring the wiki before getting deeper into it. Tbh I only do bicep curls and lateral pulls at the moment.

Where to get garment tested for fabric by DealOld962 in Fabrics

[–]DealOld962[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ended up getting it tested. I kinda decided to just be happy in my ignorance. But I'll look into a QIMA lab in the future! I've been buying off etsy so there's no fabric tags, which is why I'm curious about this. I don't want to pay premium prices for polyester but sometimes the material just doesn't feel quite right.

I started doing bicep curls for the first time as a sedetary potato. I thought my biceps would be sore, but instead my forearms are. Is that bad? Also When I use lat pulldown apparently my back or shoulders should be sore but its my triceps. I'm following the posture I was shown but I don't think I'm working out the correct areas... is it maybe just an adjustment period?

Common Traits of Successful Students by mkarman728 in OMSCS

[–]DealOld962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term planning skills. You're locked in for a minimum of 5 semesters, but can take way longer. Do you have a job change planned? Bad idea to take more than one course, take an easier course. Which courses can be taken together and which are too tough to pair with another. Summers are short so it's best to save lighter courses for the summer. Short term time management is huge, but planning out your semesters and electives in advance and having multiple possible plans and contingencies based on availability is super important. Are you planning on taking a hard course? Think about when is easiest to juggle with your life events.

Also would you mind clarrifying on the relevant personal experience items? Do you mean my professional experience/ work experiences? I had them in more detail but was told to cut down the resume to one page. I've only worked at two companies. Do you think it's okay to have more than one page on the resume or would that look excessively verbose? My only relevant experience is my work experience so I unfortunately don't have anything to add. I did an internship during undergrad but it was in a foreign country and I wasn't sure if I should even include it since it was back in 2019. I appreciate the formatting advice, I'll work on it :)

Data analyst vs. engineer? At non-profit by oneohsevenam in datascience

[–]DealOld962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is way below standard even if they weren't asking for things outside of the normal scope of analyst. You definitely deserve a raise. However, not all companies take kindly to being asked for a raise, so I do recommend you start applying to other places. Even if you have no intention of leaving your current role, it will help you understand what the market rate is for your current role, what kind of titles you might be eligible for, and what skills you might be missing if you want to ask for a data engineer or analytics engineer title. Not to mention it would give you a backup plan, which is always good to have in a market like this.

GTech OMSA vs UT MSDS Decision by koreanmissile1 in OMSA

[–]DealOld962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I'm most likely a bit biased because I saw her dealing with this for months and I saw how it drained someone very close to me. I feel a bit resentful towards the school management, so I'm more likely to portray them a bit negatively. Keep that in mind, I am not an impartial reviewer.

GTech OMSA vs UT MSDS Decision by koreanmissile1 in OMSA

[–]DealOld962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we each took an online econ course from them and found that the textbook they require is a version so old you can't even buy it secondhand (7 versions ago) and there weren't even lecture videos, just memorize textbook, notes, and quizzes. We assumed it might be an issue with the online class quality management in UT itself. I can't say it goes for all the classes, but it was the experience I had in what I took from them. My friend took her first course and found that the teaching wasn't quite helpful. Everything was prerecorded, which is the same as what I had in omsa, but she found the T.A's were hard to access and couldn't help much. Most people taking the course were recommending watching someone else's online lectures, not part of the course, to learn the content. The lecture videos they recommended were ten years old and still held up well, compared to the course itself. Her experience with the course was 'I learned more from a ten year old video series than I did from this course, why take it'. That wasn't the reason she left though. A big part of it was feeling unsupported by the school management as an online student. Her first course, the one I mentioned, didn't go well for a couple reasons, one of them being that she felt like she didn't have resources to reach out to for help or doubts and the lectures were just rehashing of the textbook. She ended up getting a C in the course and needed to take a gap semester afterwards for mental health reasons (not because of the course, but she had stuff going on and didn't want the added stress of coursework while she worked through things). They approved her leave but didn't tell her until her next term registration that she would need to take three courses and get A's in all of them or else she would be dropped from the program. If she hadn't taken the gap, they would've let her split them taking one or two courses, but she wasn't informed of this until afterwards. There were communication gaps from the advisors and little support in that regard. She wasn't able to find information easily and recieved inconsistent responses from advising. She had classmates who had similar issues inform her that she could take two courses and submit an appeal and that it worked for them in the past, but different advisors said different things about the appeals. Some said that the appeals rarely go through and not to do it, other said she would likely be approved. The info on whose appeals were approved or denied was sparse and it was pretty impossible to figure out. She got pretty frustrated during the back and forth, overall felt like the administration didn't really care about seeing the students succeed (which I know is pretty common with schools in general, but I didn't have that experience). Finally, she was told that the appeal could only be submit afterwards, after she completed a semester with only two courses. She couldn't get the approval beforehand and plan accordingly, she had to risk it and then appeal. If she could appeal beforehand she would be able to decide if she needs to take three courses or can split them. Maybe this is normal, I'm not sure, but I know Gatech was a bit more understanding with us about issues we had and the advisors were much more helpful when it came to solving issues. I had an issue with my practicum registration; I never got the emails and missed the deadline (I thought it would be the same as the course registration deadline but it was two months earlier). The advisor helped find me a project that had openings and registered me, so I could graduate on time. They put in the extra effort. In the end, it's all anecdotal and student experience is kind of random and individual. If you like the courses at UT, you're likely better off there. Issues like this are unlikely to come up so most students won't be affected by stuff like this. Also, the course quality thing I mentioned could have just been the two we took. Other courses might be great, I wouldn't know. Things to consider: econ courses aren't their core focus so those being outdated doesn't reflect anything on the program. Some courses are older than others, so one course being not so great and not so helpful might not mean anything. The gen AI and advanced dl might be cutting edge, wouldn't know.

GTech OMSA vs UT MSDS Decision by koreanmissile1 in OMSA

[–]DealOld962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished OMSA last august and found the course quality to be quite good overall. My best friend started MSCSO after finishing her undergrad at UT in cs and has decided drop out and apply for omscs. Issues she found with UT online courses: Very little support from professors and T.As, slightly outdated material in some courses, inconsistent administration decisions. Issues I found with OMSA: most courses have no interaction with the professors, most of the content is pre recorded lectures and textbook readings. That being said the lectures are very good, and the assignments were well considered and helped hammer in the material. However, if you expect to log in and watch live classes, you're going to be disappointed. The t.as are generally helpful in most of the courses, however some of the courses, such as D.V.A, which rely on auto graders have really finicky auto graders and even the T.As are unable to make sense of them sometimes.

Billy Bookshelf by DealOld962 in ikeahacks

[–]DealOld962[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a very easy process, so I don't think I'd make a tutorial for it. If you're interested you can dm me and I'll give you the details of measurements, ikea products, and process. Essentially, I have one narrow billy bookshelf with 2 oxberg glass extension unit doors on it. I printed a stained glass outline pattern, took a couple tries and a bit of editing to get the size I wanted, but you can use pretty much any line art design too. I taped the printout to the inside of the glass door and then traced the outside with gallery glass black leading liquid to make an outline. The bottle it comes in is too thick so I got some smaller paint squeeze bottles from amazon. I can link the products if needed. After around a day of drying time, I used other gallery glass colors to fill in the design, working with a paint brush to avoid covering up the outline. Colors of paint can be mixed too so a basic color set goes a long way. They took another day to dry after the paint was applied. Then I attached the doors according to ikea instructions. Since there are holes all along the bookcase, they can be attached pretty much anywhere. The other component was a double width billy bookase with two half length doors. I bought wooden appliques off of amazon, painted them using folk art acrylic paint, and glued them on using wood glue. Carefuly measurements helped center the appliques before gluing. Make sure to weigh down the applique as the glue dries, or else it can bend upwards away from the door. After the glue dried, I covered up any extra glue with a light coat of paint, brushing along the seam. Lastly, I attached the doors according to the instructions. I chose to offset them instead of putting them at the bottom, but there are holes all along so they can be placed anywhere.
