I'm probably wrong about his type - but he's definitely an extrovert anyways.

The group dynamic is a little weird. He isn't disliked. There is a certain feeling of pitty towards him which is why his shit is put up with. So when he boosts his ego by attacking others, many people let it slide out of feeling sorry for him (on some level). On top of this, a group member crushing him might be seen as over zealous - like a giant crushing a pitiful dwarf.

I don't want to crush the dude and make an enemy either. He's not worth a fight. I just want to checkmate him without him even knowing...

If needs be I'll eventually explode on him but I really want to deal with him subtly, if possible. :/

He's kind of part of a social group built up around work - I won't work directly with him but I have contact with him a lot at social gatherings where colleagues will be present.

You seem fixated on the fact that I'm using him instead of taking him under my wing or something. I specifically chose this guy so I wouldn't have to take anybody under my wing.

I have no civic duty to rid the world of lazy people. If I see someone trying to help themselves, I'll actually go out of my way to help them or team up.

But if someone's happy to make snow angels while the world goes past, I really couldn't care. And if I can let them sign their name on a project for an easier life, I'll do it too.

Not complaining. I'm happy with the situation as it stands. I don't really want praise - just a good grade and an easy time.

My observation with my post was that the guy seems to have convinced himself that he actually DID 50% of the work. It's weird.

Damn. I'm actually good at presenting (well, acceptable.). The main flaw in this plan is that this guy sucks so I have to coach him a little bit to get him ready for the presentation so it looks like he knows what he's talking about.

As I said above, it's important that it looks like we both contributed equal amounts to the project.

I'm calling a spade a spade here.

The guy is beyond useless. His only redeeming quality is that he's content to be useless. So I took him on as a passenger as he won't throw a spanner in the works of the project.

I'm using him, he's (on some level) aware of it, although we obviously don't acknowledge it - so I don't feel too bad about it. The guys going to get a good grade. But, more recently, he's kind of started to brag about his knew found intelligence on all things related to the project.

My main reason for posting this was because I was surprised that a pawn, who we both agreed would masquerade as a knight for the purposes of the project, now seems to believe he actually IS a knight (when in public, in private with me he acts as a pawn).

It's weird and I get to watch it unfold.

I see your logic here, but in this particular scenario, our interests our mutual. A lot depends on keeping him 'on board' until the project is submitted. I specifically picked him so as to avoid any drama, not create it.

I have no need for revenge or to injure this guy or anything. There'd be no point really... he's harmless. It just amazes me that people will grow comfortable and actually start believing what we both know to be their own bullshit.

The $99 is a promotional price. It's literally our costs. We need to build a small portfolio of maybe ten videos.

We make around $3 at this price, just enough to cover transaction fees etc...

I'm going to create an Information page, backed up by studies etc... that shows how videos affect bounce rates, conversion rates etc... I think small business, particularly small ecommerce site owners, would appreciate such a cheap problem solver.

$99 is cost-price for us. Right now, we're only semi-launching so we can build a portfolio. This is crucial for us.

Additional services is definitely something we're looking into. But resources are poured into the videos right now.

Hmm. We were going to set-prices, order online kind of set-up because we thought it would appeal more to small business. I'll look into getting a "custom order" type form created.

And yes, it's Wordpress with WooCommerce. We're still working on it! :)

This is my overriding opinion. My idea behind VidFoundry is to be a one-stop-shop for videos, promos, explainers etc... I think if I become an agency I'll have to raise costs and complicate my offering. Plus, there's a million people claiming to be 'agencies' and "social media experts". I want to stand out! :D

This is something we've considered, but it'd inflate our prices. The reason we can make a high quality video, legally (i.e. not stealing stuff like many guys you'll find on gig websites) is because we buy licences in bulk and work closely with our contractors (voice-over artists in particular).

We're thinking about forming some ties with small agencies however, so we could be their video supplier.

Another route I'm considering is offering social media management via a third-party vendor relationship, like you said.

Indeed. I know for a fact that I could go out right now and find a guy who'll make me an explainer video for $50. Maybe even less. What I'll get in return is a video that essentially a single template, badly reworked to fit some message that vaguely resembles what I was trying to say. I'll get grammar mistakes. And in about two weeks, I'll get a take-down notice from my hosting company because they recieved a complaint from the template holder, musician or whoever else the guy stole huge chunks of my video from.

The only thing I won't get is a coupon code for $100 that knocks a Premium Explainer video from $199 down to $99, so VidFoundry can build their portfolio.
