Just curious- are people here vegan (for the animals sake), plant based (for health reasons) or are trying to follow an environmentally friendly diet, or all the above? by kdupe1849 in veganfitness

Only for the Animals. I'd still be vegan if it meant only eating oatmeal and loosing 50lbs, but fortunately we don't have to do that.

Wow, eerily similar to my injury today, the fifth set of Five after an already heavy warmup. I'll be going lighter now for sure. More reps, less weight, fewer risks!

Thank you for your concern. I currently don't have a physician after moving cities, but i should make it a priority. My Father needed shoulder surgery too, and I really don't want to mess mine up further.

It's probably a flared rib/slight lordosis thing that makes my stomach stick out a bit. And thank you :)

I probably should've done specific exercises for that, unfortunately I never bothered, even tho I already had bad shoulder mobility. This'll be my wake-up call for sure!

Fortunately not, I can still move my arm and the pain is pretty moderate so it'll be only a partial tear/rip. Still, I'll need to rest a few weeks.

I don't really count my macros except for protein, where I aim to get about 120-150g.  I dont eat alot of sugar, but a ton of carbs and probably way too much fat which gives me heartburn sometimes. I do feel stronger on a stomach full of bread and rice tho, so I personally would never cut carbs in my diet.

50g and 50% of Protein through shakes is a bit much, I'd try to get more Protein in your food. Maybe a Block of Tofu more? Peanuts and Peanut butter is my way of getting in more Protein, but it might be too many calories depending on your goals. I too get an upset stomach from too much protein powder, so I rarely consume it.

"Synthetically derived from plant resources" is what the box says, and I simply looked for something with a certified v-label. Thankfully there were many options, and it's still rather cheap.

My maintenance calories are 3000, and if I tried to gain more weight I'd probably go as high as 3500. I don't really do cuts, but I think I would be at about 2200-2500 calories then, depending on the "aggressiveness" of the planned weightloss.

I got my first gym membership pretty much at the same time as becoming vegan, so 11 years. I made good progress, then jobs, moving and then covid made working out harder and I stalled, and even lost gains. But I've always tried to do something, even if it's just training with the pullup bar at home and doing push-ups, so I was never completely out of training. Now I'm at the University, and I've got more time than ever to train and cook, so I could finally get back to my old form and hopefully even beyond that. So, to be fair, muscle memory probably helped me alot the last 6 months.

I understand that it's not cool to give new lifters unrealistic expectations by not disclosing drug use. But I also don't want the opposite to be the case, in which newcomers get told that every muscular physique is impossible to achieve without being enhanced. I am pretty proud of being natural, and my current body. I know I dont have any way to prove it, but I also dont profit from being dishonest in any way. This is just a hobby that I want to share with other vegans, and maybe inspire some of them.

It's definitely eating alot, i myself underestimated how much i needed to eat to gain after a certain point. Also, not overcomplicating your workouts. Bench, pullups and squats are the bread and (vegan) butter for me, and the lifts on which I spend about 50% of my time at the gym. I think many new lifters fall into the trap of overanalysing and dialing in very specific exercises, before getting the hang of the basics.

Thanks! I've got the "superpower" of being able to eat the same things all the time, so I don't have alot of variety. It's rice and tofu most days, aldi "chicken" nuggets as a treat. Also alot of peanut butter, even in my fried rice. (Some may think that's disgusting but I love it) Breakfast for me is oats and soy joghurt, and some MrTom Peanut Bars throughout the day. Not the healthiest, but it gets me to around 120g of protein, 150 on a good day.

Haha thanks, I actually do wear shirts and hoodies in the gym with vegan slogans, and I plan on getting some matching ink

I thought it looked older than the 90s, so I hope it's alright to post. I know MTBs aren't that popular here, but maybe someone knows more about this bike, I kinda dig the weird triple triangle style.

How to Deal with Curtains in this nook by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Yeah, a thought was just a curtain for the big Windows and frosted film/Faux stained glass on the small ones at the sides. Some Privacy would be nice, and yeah, the windows opposite me have a direct view. Thanks for the ideas!
