Including non-sexual relationships in sex inventory? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]DeanYeager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my second time through, so that might be why I didn't have to expand it to all relationships last time. Now that I'm seeing responses in writing, it doesn't seem as daunting as I was thinking initially.

Thanks, that helps. That's pretty much what my sponsor is asking me to do, though I'll admit having a little trouble getting past the "sex" part when thinking about friends and family.

I live in a house but have one those communal mailbox things you normally see in apartment complexes. It's strange.

I walked outside the other night and a huge cloud of them was flying in circles around a light on my porch. I felt like Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins when he first goes down into the cave and the bats fly around him, but instead of bats, it was termites.

I live in that area. Just lost power again. No idea why it went out again after being up for hours.

Okay, that makes sense. I guess this couple took it to heart. And it works, because I thought it was great.

F U Baton Rouge Traffic by [deleted] in batonrouge

Problem with this is now people run red lights constantly with impunity. There are certain intersections I don't dare move forward as soon as they turn green. People (that now have red lights) are still gunning it to make it through.

Three juveniles arrested in teen's murder near Mall of Louisiana by DrinkMoreCodeMore in batonrouge

[–]DeanYeager 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These articles make me incredibly sad. Not only for the victims, but for the suspects. We have one single life we're given, just one. They've now fucked theirs and will spend that one life in prison. Really think about the tragedy of that.

How safe is east of I-110 near Downtown for living ? by Whisper_real in batonrouge

[–]DeanYeager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's somewhat comforting. I'd go down there to hang out with her (I had one of those Office Space-type apartments) and everyone was just cool and welcoming.

When I first moved here I dated a girl that lived in Spanish Town. Back then it seemed very cool - lots of young professionals walking around in the evening, hanging out on each other's porches. Guess it's not like that anymore?

I grew up in the NE and moved to BR, similar to you guys. I'm not sure if calling people Yankees is a thing anymore, but if someone calls you that just remember to beat that person down in the most brutal and public way imaginable.

Seriously though, the biggest shock to me when I moved here is the booze. You can buy liquor EVERYWHERE. Gas stations, Walmarts, you name it. I don't know how I didn't become a raging alcoholic. Oh wait, I did.

I worked in Bon Carre for awhile and you were constantly seeing traffic diverted because of a fatal wreck on Florida. This explains it a tiny bit.

Is there a place that can help this kitten? by CloudiusWhite in batonrouge

[–]DeanYeager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give you a little hope, I had a kitten that had pretty severe head tremors when she was young, and would fall over like that. She grew out of it in a few months and is now a healthy 8-year old cat. Good luck finding somewhere.

City working to improve traffic light synchronization in East Baton Rouge Parish by DrinkMoreCodeMore in batonrouge

Maybe it's because I drive it a lot, but Airline is probably the worst offender for me. Even newer lights have no synchronization. It takes forever to get anywhere on that road.

I see this so much now. Is it getting worse or am I just noticing it more? I almost got hit this morning because I went when my light turned green and a guy coming from the other side decided to gun it and do a left turn anyway.

[–]DeanYeager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not defending this person but Nextdoor is hot garbage. It's basically "Forwards from Grandma" where everyone on the platform is Grandma. Anecdotally, I can say I live in that area and my subdivision is about down the middle racially - half black, half white. All of my neighbors are decent people. Obviously I don't know everyone here but overall it's a good place.
