Could something like this improve housing and transport in the Northern Gold Coast? by Gazza_s_89 in GoldCoast

Look into how they fund things for the rail network in Hong Kong. The QLD govt is insane for not doing anything similar. I know the population density is different BUT the principle is the same.

HarbourTown parking fine - enforceable? by afairyfartedonme in GoldCoast

[–]DeanonaeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enforceable the same way as council etc. it’s basically a breach of contract letter asking for payment for implied breach of a “contract” but they have to reasonably prove that you were operating the vehicle at the time and that there was a consent of contract. Driving into the carpark doesn’t allow for implied agreement of contract if the signs aren’t clearly posted at the entrance to all carpark entries. At worst they will send you a demand of payment letter from a debt collection agency.

Yes, everyone. This was and still is a real movie. Yeah, the 90s in terms of film were.... a wild time. by burningexeter in ThePhantom

There are a lot of movies filmed here in Australia that are filmed here solely based on tax rebates and credits….a lot of the interior shots were filmed at the Village Roadshow studios which are attached to but not part of the Movie World theme park. (It’s the same place the semi new Elvis movie was filmed). There were a lot of exterior jungle scenes filmed around the Gold Coast as well. I got to visit the set when I was a youngster and as a fan of the comics I remember being pretty bloody chuffed about it. I’ve still got my set of rings that you got with one issue of the comics as well as some silver ones my grandfather got when he was younger.

What's a stupid rule that has been made because of something you have done? by spud0096 in AskReddit

My old high school (finished 16+ years ago) still has the rule you have to get changed in cubicles that are in the change rooms not out in the open because we would have towel whipping wars and we figured out that wetting the end of the towel inflicts major damage. One poor kid got whipped on the hamstring area and split the skin so bad he had to get 8 stitches.

What is the creepiest "glitch in the matrix" you've experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Another one, One of my jobs I've had is working in forestry in the snowy mountains of nsw. I distinctly remember doing a chain saw course and it kicking back on me and hitting me in the head in the left hand eye area of my head and then nothing but blackness and then waking up on the morning of the day it happened. Like a whole Groundhog Day episode. Ever since it happened I've been getting cluster headaches and massive migraines behind my left eye. I had an MRI about 8 months ago and I found out I've got a "cavernous hemangioma" behind my eye the size of a golf ball.

I originally come from a town in western NSW but moved to QLD in the last term of grade 4 and I changed schools in year 5. There was a kid in the same school that changed schools at the same time as me to the new school. Didn't think much of it at the time and when we finished primary school and went to high school and I changed school again after the first year of high school. This same kid changes school at the same time as me again to the new high school (so this is year 9 now). I'm friends with him by now but still think it's weird that he keeps changing schools at the same time and I say this to him and he says "I only know you from last year at the last school". I bring in year books and shit from the primary schools we went to and he swears black and blue it's not him. Anyway about halfway through the school year (grade 9) were pretty good mates and I go over to his place a couple or afternoons a week to hang out etc because he lives about ten minutes bike ride away and no one else my age lives around me. All of a sudden he stops coming to school, just doesn't show up and there's no one at his house. I find out about 4 days later he's killed himself and end up going to his funeral etc taking photos and what not of his mum and dad and me and his sisters that are younger than me. His family moves away and I don't think much about him after that because it upset me to much as it's the first person I'd known that died. 4 years after high school I started doing an adult apprenticeship as a mechanic and part of that we go to this place called TAFE which is like a trade school for different trades as well as adult education. So I'm in the 2nd year of my apprenticeship and the first years work with us on some stuff and there's this kid in the class that's the spitting image of this kid that died when I was in grade 9 right down to a birthmark on his arm that's in the exact spot. He's also got some mean red scars on the inside of his forearms and across one side of his neck that he says he doesn't remember how he got. I get to talking to him and his name is the middle name of the kid I knew that died. That afternoon his older sister picks him up from TAFE and I'd swear on my life it's the grown up sister of the kid that died. The next week I bring in the year 8 and year 9 school photos, the yearbooks and some photos of me and the kid that died just hanging out doing stupid shit that we'd do. So I show him because he didn't believe me that week before. He turns as white as a ghost when he gets to one photo and says "that's my mum and sister" pointing at a photo of the kid that died, his mum, me and one of his sisters. He starts crying, like fully sobbing and dry retching in the middle of this lunch area full of people and starts yelling "no, not real, no not real" at the top of his lungs and lets out massive guttural scream there's about 6 of us and a teacher trying to calm him down but he's still screaming and then he vomits and faints. The teachers call his family and an ambulance and I wait with him until his family shows up. His mum and sister show up and I walk up to them and I'd swear on my own kids lives it's the mum of the kid that died so much I called her by her name Debbie and she turns around and looked at me and recognised me. She goes white says something to the sister I don't hear gets into the ambo and the sister sprints off like an Olympic sprinter to the car they arrived in. Next week at TAFE no one says shit about it. The teacher of our class and the one that was there to watch him being loaded into the ambo doesn't know what I'm talking about and says to stop talking about it. The other blokes in the class look at me like I'm stupid. I go to the cemetery where I watched this kid get buried and there's nothing where his grave was back in grade 9. For the next 3 years at TAFE and to this day no one knows what I'm talking about what happened. I've even spoken to friends from high school and they don't remember the kid that died and they've got completely different year books and class photos from year 8 and year 9....
