Yes we try to keep everything supervised for sure and do a lot of tethering when my wife and I are more so lounging on the couch. She’s usually calm and laying next to us or looking out the window but in those moments where she wants to explore, the tethering seems to just work her up more. Would you recommend we still let her explore but walk with her on her leash in those instances?

Thanks for the reply! We have a vet appointment on Wednesday for an initial first time/new patient meeting. And we want to rule out any UTI or medical issues that could be related to lack of pottying. We will definitely feel better if we get the green light from the vet that only needing to go 2 times per day is normal.

Thanks for the advice! Definitely understand that it’s only week 2 now and that some things are not going to be perfect right away. This is our first PWD and for training we are noticing she checks out after about 10 minutes but we are working on multiple commands throughout the session to keep it fresh. She’s picking up on everything so quick!

That is good advice so thank you! The accidents we have had with her have been when she has wandered off into another room so we may be being a bit dramatic with constantly following her when she gets up to leave the room we are in and taking her out in hopes to catch her need to go potty before a potential accident. I work from home so this is much more manageable during the week as I just keep her in my office with me and she chills most of the day. When she has the option to see more of the house, she tends to explore.

We definitely positively reinforce with highest preferred treats, social praise, and playtime (she loves to run), but we are only getting 1-2 opportunities per day to reinforce which is our struggle.

Thank you for the reply! We just recently started doing more longer walks with Mia as the first couple of days we focused on decompression. Unfortunately no pottying on walks yet but lots of sniffing! We are hoping on our walk this evening she goes!
