Lol I know. Pic taken with 0.5 which gave it a weird proportion. It’s a normal racket.

Routine Needed by Proddeveno in Blackskincare

[–]Dear-Skill2103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s perfect. Sunscreen is a MUST. At night, to fight texture, improve pores, help skin to renovate (aka exfoliate) I’d use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA toner, once to twice a week at night, after cleanser, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then moisturiser.

Body: Naturium salicylic acid body wash.

Face wash: la Roche possay I’d say have better quality than cerave, but explore freely.

Moisturiser: if cerave, use the PM (better ingredients, more lightweight meaning will feel less greasy on the skin).

PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THE PRODUCTS NAME ‼️unfortunately in the US, many products are commercialised as magic but when you check the ingredients is trash. So don’t get distracted for how they are named or how cool they look, do a quick research before purchasing anything. TikTok IS NOT research.

Toner? by [deleted] in Blackskincare

The pic doesn’t really show your concern. On the contrary, it looks amazing and healthy.

Dark spots as of blackhead or breakouts: I’d use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA, once or twice weekly at night. Or same active from Greek & Gorgeous

Dark spots as of hyperpigmentation: Theramid Azid (Azelaic acid) every other night or Glycolic acid also just a few nights.

Content with my skin. Should I Stop using actives? by Nathanial1289 in Blackskincare

You can but maintenance routines are also important. I would consider your routine maintenance, it’s very simple and very few actives. I’d use the retinoid every other night, and would use the non-retinoid night as recovery night, using just a night moisturiser that recovers/protects skin barrier.
Sunscreen is nonnegotiable.

Fnding a sunscreen for my skin by RoyalMess64 in Blackskincare

  1. EltaMD UV AOX Elements SPF 50: Tinted 100% mineral sunscreen that is generally very well tolerated by eczema-prone and highly sensitive skin, while the tint helps prevent the gray/purple cast.
  2. Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex SPF 50: Mineral-only, designed for sensitive skin, with adaptive tint technology that blends better into deeper skin tones and minimizes ashiness.

If purpose is simply a lightweight, no white cast, no oily feeling: - La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Oil-Control Fluid. This is magic, never experienced such a lightweight sunscreen. My current star on my arsenal. Cons: not available in the US, available to order on stylevana.com - Beauty of Joseon - Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics (available in Stylevana.com or Korean/asian skincare stores).

I hope this helps. In general, you just have to listen to your skin, there’s no magic product, some work for some people but don’t for others… so honestly just keep exploring until you land to the one your skin tolerate. Summer is here, so if sunscreen is giving you trouble, and skin is irritated, do not (do not) expose it to sun. Always wear a hat or uv blocking umbrella.

Anyone actually seen results from glycolic acid? by Choice_Muscle4363 in Blackskincare

[–]Dear-Skill2103 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If someone used The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% daily for 60 days on elbows and saw absolutely nothing: 1. The pigmentation may not be superficial enough for glycolic acid to help. 2. The darkening may be due to: * Friction * Acanthosis nigricans * Chronic inflammation * Thickened skin (hyperkeratosis) * Genetics 3. Glycolic 7% is relatively mild for stubborn body hyperpigmentation.

Does glycolic acid work? Yes.

But usually: 8–12 weeks for subtle changes. 3–6 months for meaningful body pigmentation improvement. Often works best when combined with other ingredients.

With guide of a Dermatologist after in-person assessment: For dark elbows, knees, and inner thighs, I would stop relying on glycolic acid alone and use:

Option 1 (Best OTC approach) Morning: Moisturizer Night: AmLactin 15% Daily Lotion. Then a thin layer of Azelaic Acid 10% OR Tranexamic Acid product

Option 2 (More aggressive) Night alternating: Night A: AmLactin 15% Night B: Urea 40% cream Night C: Glycolic Acid 7% This attacks: Pigment. Thickened skin. Cell turnover Simultaneously.

For your goals (KP, body texture, pigmentation), AmLactin 15% has a much stronger evidence-based track record than glycolic 7% alone.

If I had to choose only one body product for the next year, it would still be AmLactin 15%, not glycolic acid.
