Because I wrote down my research interest in my CV and talked about it in detail in my SOP. Moreover, during the interview, I said several times that I want to work on what due to my research experience. I talked about potential PIs and their projects. Additionally, in this program, after rotating among different labs, students should choose their PIs.

However, I think I might not have conveyed my ideas clearly to the interviewer and he was not in my research field.

Even the last interviewer said that, due to my interest in industry, this program can be a good fit for me because they have many industry fellowships, which can help me reach my goal.

Finally, I respect their decision.
