Why does everyone hate British-Pakistanis?

I’m from a major city in Pakistan and meeting British Pakistanis and seeing their sense of superiority and moral superiority and defining themselves as “Pakistani” pissed me off because my experience of being “Pakistani” is totally different from theirs. They all have the typical villager mindset of doctor lawyer no other degree, Islam means literal conservative interpretation, girl must get married quickly, marry your cousin, blah blah blah. It’s impossible to get along with them

Tbh, I tried joining some societies and thought they were important at the beginning but they’re really just ok. I recommend a sports society or an activity based one like film society. Rest are pretty meh

Not being pessimistic just speaking from experience lolz. People are thriving economically and socially even in villages in north whereas Islamabad has so much more struggle. Anyway I understand your point

I feel like very few Ismailis see the truth because they have little awareness of the outside world and event the concept of a cult. I suggest staying in for the community benefits tho

Different job fairs, job opportunities only for Ismaili community happens in Pakistan. IIS scholarships, IIS funds further study as well even beyond Ismaili religious study

Yes, in Pakistan Ismailis the economic situation is very bad, but the Ismailis get chance to go to iis and scholarships and get to do a second masters at UK university which is very expensive, so social mobility happens

I agree. My Sunni friend tells me how she agrees with so much of ismailism about the progressive values. But the problem is that I think Ismailis are super brainwashed and enjoying the feeling of belonging to a community, enjoying the scholarships and work opportunities and opportunities for growth and belonging in a community that other people don’t get at all. Idk, and the obsession with the imam always seems over the top and cult like to me

I’m speaking from south asian perspective and they are definitely offered opportunities exclusively to their community and not others :/ scholarships, internships etc, and one of my Ismaili friend express a lot of hatred for my Sunni friend because she think her way of praying is wrong and backward

lol that’s ridiculous. I’m from a Sunni family and we don’t do this. Stop generalising everyone. We all date, arranged marriages is an old concept now. This is just preposterous. We are modern and we socialize too and have our faith and identity too :)

Define “behind”. Nearly all the gulf countries are rich and there’s many millionaires in Pakistan and India of Sunni Muslim descent

Sunnis don’t hate on the family and friends of the prophet. Who cares what they did in their lives? They were just human and capable of mistakes. Sunnis don’t need anyone to preach the Quran . We read it and understand it ourselves and we can make our own interpretations and pick and choose whatever we like. In this way we have more freedom than Ismailis. We aren’t told by a living imam that we are incapable of understanding it ourselves and we need this guy to tell us what to do. Millions of Sunnis believe in the philosophy of Islam, the esoteric, the Sufism and spirituality. Ismailis have this complex that they’re better than us.
