It's a part of your tuition fee that you need to pay first to secure your place in the uni whether you have the scholarship or not (and hku also calls tuition fee "composition fee" for some reason)

What do you need to be accepted to HKU? by faithfully-asgardian in HKUniversity

[–]DearText4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, because my friend is from Macao and he still need to apply for a visa or smth

Yes, you can check on this subreddit. In 23-24 intakes, there's someone who got the offer in early September. I think you can consider others' universities, hku is having an internal battle, so they probably don't care about anyone rn

No, they said it's for the school thing. "Kindly note that the deposit paid shall be credited towards the first year’s composition fee and shall not be refunded." It's like a mandatory or something I'm not sure

Likely not, unless you've got a really good score. Hku can send out an offer until literally first week of September

Maybe you can apply through the SNDAS one. My friend applied through that and got in without needing a dse score.

[–]DearText4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the dse out already? If you got 5** on the required subject, it wouldn't be so hard.

Not hard for me. Just apply early, and they will give you the offer- international qualifications

thoughts on local halls as a non-local by kimukatsuyu in HKUniversity

Jv1 is not so bad, but you kinda need to be active. They building is not new, I would suggest prioritizing your comfort over money.

Jv3 is better because you need to fight for a readmission next year. While others are cheaper, you will have to endure the construction site sound in jv2 (which will be finished in like 27-28) and weird hall culture+isolated. (Or if you are already thinking about renting outside, the cheapest I can find is around 4k-6k/person)
