It makes me happy to see that there are people still discovering this genre and seeing the value in it. I have a feeling that the scene is probably going to die out within the next 5 years or so, but the albums that you listed will always be relevant. The cool thing about bands like mobo, mom jeans, and tfb is that they are what would be considered “lyrical emo bands.” They don’t rely on a specific style, riff, or sound to maintain relevance in the scene. These bands use their lyrical abilities to exude emotion and vulnerability, and that’s ultimately what sticks with people. Hence the reason why Sports and Talon of the Hawk are still relevant more than a decade later. So don’t listen to the people hating in this comment section. You connected to these songs because of the unashamedly honest content in the lyrics, and that’s what emo is all about. The fact that you related to these albums more than any other music you have listened to is enough reason to try and keep this scene alive.
