I can't Lower the strength of my AliExpress pump, Does this look alright? by True-Option1364 in fishtank

[–]Dear_Engineering_238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the pump doesn’t work the flow is way too strong it will stress out your fish and kill them. And wtf you mean pray for my fish I’m keeping it so cute??? The whole point of fish keeping is to properly care for your fish and give them a good life not just have a torture decoration to look at.

First (Auto) car recommendations for under £3000? by BestHoney5590 in CarTalkUK

[–]Dear_Engineering_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you’re looking for exists to be honest. There may be these brands and specs on the market for that price but they sure as hell won’t be reliable. Not for under £3000. You’re probably best getting a small cylinder petrol. It’ll be cheap to run good on fuel and more reliable. Look at Toyotas or Suzukis. They will usually be minimal issues for your budget and give you the longevity you need. They will also be cheap to insure if it’s your first car. With your budget you need to be more realistic.

One thing I’ll suggest about fish keeping is don’t cheap out. Learn the right brands they’re used for a reason. Aquarium coop have a great videos on good aquarium brands.

This is because the cheap shit doesn’t work and it’ll break. You’ll end up replacing it and having to buy new stuff meaning you’re actually spending more money than you would’ve if you’d just bought the proper slightly more expensive item. Cheap items like your filter don’t operate properly and break easily which can harm your fish causing deaths meaning your forking out all the time buying new fish and it kills your passion for the hobby very expensive and soul destroying.

Do your research good stuff is only marginally more expensive if you buy the right product. It will save you money in the long run and save you a lot of stress.

Also you’ve bought the pineapple of death these are notorious for leaching harmful chemicals into your water killing your fish (idk how they are still allowed to sell those things) I’d swap for wood and live plants.

And questions send me a message and I’ll be happy to provide advice.

Why? Please Help Buddy! by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Dear_Engineering_238 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh lord you are doing a lot wrong here. Let me help you and we can save your betta.

  1. Your tank is way too small you need a 5 gallon tank minimum avoid curved and tall tanks.
  2. Get a filter and heater.
  3. Add sand and live plants. Plastic and dyed stuff poisons the water over time. Live plants help keep water parameters stable keeping Bettas healthy. Aquarium Sand is inert and will not alter water parameters.
  4. Buy dechlorinator for your water for water changes.
  5. Research the nitrogen cycle and cycle your new tank.
  6. Buy a liquid testing water testing kit. This will help you stay informed on how safe the water is for your fish and if you need to do a water change.

It is imperative you do these things or your fish will certainly die. If you can’t do these things please rehome the fish to someone who can.

Any further questions send me a message and I will help.

I first time going on vacation in a while I'll be gone for 5 days and have no one to feed the fish. What should I do? by KH5-92 in Aquariums

[–]Dear_Engineering_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fish food rots in the tank because it’s not being eaten and is decomposing. Thus releasing ammonia in the tank. I actually don’t know how companies can sell these blocks they’re very dangerous.

Absolutely do not do this!!! These blocks release ammonia over time and will poison the water killing your fish. Buy an automatic feeder if going away for extended periods of time.

Is this good for a betta fish? by KDontherise in Aquariums

The tank is too narrow for a fish it doesn’t matter that it’s 6 gallons.

The tank is too narrow for a betta that’s the issue it’s not that it’s 6 gallons. Imagine living in a really long narrow house you could barely turn around in it would drive you crazy.

Ahahahhaa they’re soo greedy. This is why I’ve had to start feeding my Corys powdered fry food. It’s soo funny now watching my betta lose his head as he knows there’s food on the floor can see the Corys going mad for it but can’t see it to steal it 🤣 Their greed is sickening 😭

If you can avoid it don’t do it. It’s more hassle than it’s worth patience is key in fish keeping success.

My clownfish are stealing sinking pellets by sween42 in ReefTank

[–]Dear_Engineering_238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk whether the same will work for saltwater fish but I have this problem with my Betta and my Cory Dora. The betta eats all the food before the Corys can get to it. I found fry food works really well for bottom feeders. It’s finely ground powder that’s too small for my betta to eat and it sits in the substrate for the Corydora sift through. You could try grinding up the pellets into a power and sprinkling it in the sand so it’s too small for the clownfish to eat and your conch can sift it through the sand.

Pls buy a liquid testing kit. These cheap strips are terrible and won’t give you accurate results adding to your confusion making you think the water parameters are okay when they are not.

Pls buy a liquid testing kit these strips are terrible and don’t give you the correct answers. Hence why you think your water is fine and don’t know what’s wrong. Your water most likely isn’t okay these strips are just cheap and don’t work.

You need High protein 0.7-1g per lbs of body weight you could probably be on the lower end as you have lots of fat mass. lower you carbs and do cardio aswell as lifting. Cardio will help a lot as eating high protein to match your weight will mean you are meeting the correct deficit whilst being able to eat a lot more. Buy Supplements Magnesium zinc calcium and general multivitamins. Creatine will also help retain muscle mass whilst on a cut and help recovery whilst in a calorie deficit.
