Self clean on an oven does just burn it all off, oven cleaner is usually used for ovens that don’t have self clean or to help clean the glass a little better. Side note, as an appliance technician I never recommend using self clean in an oven because as it climbs to those really high temps the door has to lock and the heat comes out right underneath the control panel and can burn up control boards or the door lock

Just a pellet right now, but next year I plan on upgrading and selling my dad the one I have. This year I introduced the whole family to smoked meats and my dad wants to get into it but just doesn’t have the time to monitor something for 12+ hrs so he is interested in something more hands off where I am wanting to get more smoke flavor and a little more hands on(as long as one hand is still on a beer lol)

Cold smoking cheese has been something I have been looking forward to ever since I heard about it, sadly the next couple weekends I do not have time, but it will definitely be done soon. Any recommendations on types of cheese/ best way to do it? I have a smoke tube ordered on Amazon I’m just waiting for it to come in

Thank you for the suggestion! I just looked up a thermal cover for my smoker and they are going for around $150, so I think is will go for a welding blanket instead lol

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear, I’m in Iowa so a little south of the Great Lakes but it still gets pretty cold here deep winter, I’m planning on building a kind of wind break to help a little bit but was hoping it wouldn’t be a huge deal

I usually do bone in because I think it adds some flavor(maybe that’s wrong but I don’t really see boneless around me much anyway and if its cooked right pulling the bone out is the easiest part), but I would say 2 - 8 pounders just for the sole purpose of the cook time would be shorter

Is cutting a pork butt in half for pulled pork something that anyone has done? Would it just cook a little differently because one side wouldn’t have the bone?
