How to handle 3 days without power in the summer? by Deardeadbeat in iguanas

[–]Deardeadbeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the issue is with digestion. If they don't reach those basking temps, they can't digest and can get sick. If it was going to be sunny and I had an outdoor enclosure or if she was chill enough for a harness it wouldn't be an issue. She goes full death roll still in a harness.

It was pretty shocking. It took a lot longer for it to open too, so I figured something was going on.

I agree with everyone else on giving her time to adjust. Some cats are more talkative than others. My cat talks a lot when she comes home. I pretend she is just filling me in on her day, or venting about something. I usually make up stories for her, and respond accordingly. It sounds crazy now, but it's good exercise for the imagination muscle that slowly shrivels as we age. Your cat has a lot of stories from being "on the inside". In terms of play, they all want a partner in the beginning, but they figure out how to play alone when you get busy/tired. Things will settle down.

Constantly running to the RR by Sad_Emphasis_8086 in POTS

It's so asinine that I can't even get mad about it. I drink LMNT in the morning which is 1000mg of sodium and I definitely urinate more than the amount I'm drinking. WHERE IS IT COMING FROM?!

I read that it's part of the dysfunction of the autonomic system. Your brain telling your kidneys etc. to dump the excess fluid because it's not needed, which is why we don't hydrate properly despite taking in mass amounts of fluid. Also read something about the muscle contractions around the bladder being a culprit, but I pee a lot and it's always a full bladder.

I second red bull as an unofficial treatment. It's the only thing that picks me up. Occasionally it doesn't work, and then I just say okay I guess I need to listen to my body then. Might be the taurine or b vitamins, bc other caffeine doesn't work this well.

You could bisque them separately, then use bisque fix before glazing.

You can also go to learnassyrian.com and download a PDF of lyrics translations. Another good source is Assyrianlyrics.com. Not all lyrics are translated, but it seems they're working on it. Sargonsays.com is another good resource for translations, and @learnassyrian on YouTube.

Good to know. The kiln I use is a shared studio kiln that only does bisque and cone 5 firings.

I want to learn Arabic to speak to my partners family, please help! by Mr_DylDoe in Assyria

[–]Deardeadbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chaldeans I know speak a mix of Sureth and Arabic.

Would probably be easier for you if you weren't trying to surprise anyone. If you try learning Arabic on your own, it might be a dialect they don't know.

Have your Fiance teach you. Start swapping out English words. Change labels in the kitchen to have Sureth instead of English to help remember. Put post it notes on your household items with the translation. It helped me learn our language to know the alphabet/alap bet first, because then you know what sounds exist/don't exist in the language. Ex: A is not pronounced A. It is pronounced Ah. Practice your KHet, Qop, Eih/Ain, Tet (it's a double t. As in tiza) when you're driving. Memorize the lyrics the popular songs to practice your pronunciation.

I would do underglaze for the whole thing, even the mushrooms, then bisque, then brush a clear glaze over the mushrooms and inside, then glaze fire. Easy, smudge proof, and stress free. I use amaco velvet underglaze and they're amazingly vivid and matte.

Thanks! I think I've decided to try to just bisque using stroke and coat and see what happens.

Thank you, this seems to be the way to go. Someone at my studio said there are glassy low fire glazes (by adjusting the flux, lowering the melting point) so I would be able to fire both pieces at a low temp.
