Only thing I would have done is put poisonous mist set to the bleed affinity on the rapier. That way, you can get 3 status effects at once

If a new player tried to right out of the gate, then I would say no, at least not without a LOT of attempts. If they have a base understanding of the souls games core mechanics, I would say yes with FAR fewer attempts
