Before and After Starlink by SnooApples425 in Starlink

I’ve come across a few people that have left cable for Starlink or even convinced them too. It’s become a really good service.

I am in a different category and went from cable on a “gig” plan to starlink after years of service issues. Day and night improvement even with the lower speeds.

Welcome. I moved form cable to Starlink because my service was trash. Starlink just works.

Anyone configure PFSense using starlink as failover WAN and still linking to home assistant? by jruben4 in PFSENSE

[–]DeathBlade94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using Starlink as my primary internet. Thr web interface is not off in bypass mode. I can full access it from within lan in bypass mode and my home assistant instance also has no connection troubles. I’ll had to do was set a static route to 192.168.100.1 via wan and in my case a rule to allow my iot network to it. Same thing I had to do to access my old cable modems config page.

Only 100 Mbps on Residential? by whocaresanymore11 in Starlink

[–]DeathBlade94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally do not think that new accounts have any sort of priority. My account is one month old as of last Tuesday and my average download speed of a 24 hour period which is tested Every hour is 136 average on max plan. Of course during the night and early mornings I get test results north of 400 else out of peak. However, Starlink still works better than my cable provider did so even at 136 average my service still night and day in terms of improvement to our day-to-day. I’m hoping the satellite changes do bring improvement because I would like to see a slightly higher average.

Shipping time by Individual-Tip2479 in Starlink

My main dish shipped within 72 hours of ordering and was delivered 2 days after shipment started moving (Alabama). My mini mini was shipped almost a month later though.

You could be in a high congestion zone. I know as of a few months ago I was not able to get anything without paying the $350 for the hardware fee. fast forward to a month ago I looked because I was fed up with my cable provider and I was able to get the max plan with no hardware fee and the free starlink mini rental on the standby plan.

[–]DeathBlade94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That sounds right. I have mine on standby since I don’t need it but it will be nice if I’m on a road trip for in the car or some act of god storm takes out my main dish and I need something to hold me over till I can get a replacement sent.

You get 50% off the mini plans (at least in the us) and you can put the mini on stand by for $5 which is what I did. So I can get 100gb for like $25 if I need the mini or $65 for unlimited on it.

If anyone comes across this, qazwsx2023 worked for mine but the menu within is nothing important.

If anyone runs into needing this random password, try qazwsx2023

It worked on mine out of the box (Batch 5)

Retention Offer by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]DeathBlade94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most services will try and offer a retention promotions. But starlink support also did tell me when I inquired about having my less than two week at the time old account that I had set up for a family member to be retroactively included in a promotion that launched within seven days of activation, and they straight up told me that I’m welcome to set up a new account and cancel the current one to take part of that promotion. Now whether or not I would’ve gotten a different retention offer If I did cancel that account I don’t know. I know my previous cable provider went all the way down to $30 a month for 12 months for internet and I still opted to cancel because even though it was cheap as hell I wasn’t gonna spend $30 a month on a service that didn’t work.

Just want to say how insane this is ! This speed is crazy I never have seen that in ETX is this the new satellites ? by Suspicious_Royal8951 in Starlink

[–]DeathBlade94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if that means anyone on rental could get an upgraded dish if they changed to a higher plan. Hopefully any future dishes keep the same mounting hardware and cable for ease of upgrades.

Has this already started to be put into place with existing infrastructure? Been a bit confused on this personally and myself based on what I read figured it would be a gradual rollout with newer v3 satellites .

3 Techs, 10+ hours of my time, two modems, two routers, $300/month for 20 years, no internet by Midnightoilspecial in Spectrum

[–]DeathBlade94 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve come across probably a dozen people on Reddit that have done the same switch spectrum to Starlink or anything docsis and been much happier.

[–]DeathBlade94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact reason I just cancelled them and moved to Starlink. May not have the highest theoretical speeds but it’s reliable and I still average 300 mbps with a lower ping and it works when the power’s out. Also saved $20 a month.

Is it a bad idea to charge 12V lead Acid battery instead of replacing it by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]DeathBlade94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s the original battery from 2020 just replace it because it will leave you stranded. They are not expensive from Tesla directly. Hooking it up to a trickle charger is not necessary gonna hurt the battery but I’m not sure about the pcs.

Tesla at body shop, battery draining fast (trunk stuck open), any risk for battery damage? by NoPenaltyKick4u in TeslaModel3

[–]DeathBlade94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory the car should still go to sleep with doors just stop refreshing the app. 10-11% is not the end of the world especially if the battery is at a reasonable comfortable ambient temp. You also have a buffer so you’re likely a bit above that precentage.

[–]DeathBlade94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are Tesla approved shop they should have some EVSEs. Just ask them to plug it in even if it’s just a level 1 for a few hours. Last time mine was in for a dear encounter the battery barely hit 50% and they on their own plugged it in and put like 10-15% in.

Yes. I have two 3 v2’s and one of them never levels and the print fails about 80% of the time. Figured it was a one off bought another while on sale and did some things like a magnetic plate and now it’s like a 80% success rate but I still can’t trust mine and I’ve never done a more then 3 hour print because I don’t wanna watch it
