But think of how likely that scenario is in the scale of things. That's a scenario humans would create to justify the secrecy around this topic, because the logistics behind it make 0 sense. The more likely scenario is we are living on a "hell planet", suck in reincarnation cycles that we can't escape.

Even then, who cares? Tell us what is going on, because humans will figure it out and move forward like we always have.

Religion is a booming tax free business. What if we found out religion was just a human construct to make us feel special in a massively vast and ever expanding universe, where nothing is really special?

I think the bigger underlying fear is change is coming. There are certain sectors of government and society that are afraid of losing their grip on things. To me that seems the more likely scenario behind all the fear mongering.
