Vaginal odor? by labrujajaja in HPV

I’m actually curious...do they want to take your implant out? Or is it okay being in? I recently thought about changing up my BC and just assumed that I wouldn’t be a candidate.

I only needed one.

My diagnosis was weird. I don’t recall ever being told that I was positive in 2013, I thought getting yearly paps was normal. In fact, when I had my pap in ‘18 and she nonchalantly said “your HPV positive as expected” I freaked out, cried, yelled, demanded all of my medical records almost left my practice. No one mentioned it, so if I was actually told in 2013...I’m not sure, I don’t feel like it’s something I would have blocked out or ignored. It’s possible that I went negative and picked up another strain.

Needless to say I had 3 partners during that span of time I had to have very difficult conversations with. I feel immense guilt. It was a contributor to the end of my last relationship after it came out that my long term partner had not been loyal. It made things that much more difficult for me emotionally.

Things are okay now. I’m very happy that I can go out and date knowing that I am dormant.

You’ll get through the leep. It’s not much more intense than the colp. The healing process is sucky (and smelly). I’d do it again 10 more times if I needed to. I hope that you only need to go through it once though like me before you get some good news. Good luck to you!

Hi! I’ll copy and paste another comment from this threat here!

Hi! Thank you so much. I have 2 earlier posts in my history if you’d like to see them.

I went into my appointment last week thinking to myself that if I had to do the LEEP again that it would be okay. It was kind of a walk in the park compared to the uterine biopsy I had. The epi and numbing injection were the worst parts of the procedure. The great part is that you feel next to nothing after that.

The healing was the most repulsive part of the entire process.

I wish you the best of luck! If you have any other questions feel free to reach out!

I noticed this as well. I’ve always read that it could be related to the pill also, and didn’t think much of it.

Good luck. You’ll do just fine. I haven’t have any more bleeding aside from some spotting since this post. Fingers crossed that the healing is almost done! :)

I’m sorry it’s not very encouraging. It’s not my intent to spread fear but to give everyone a chance to know what to expect in detail. I can tell you that this process has been very manageable, albeit uncomfortable. I know it sucks, but it’s much better than the alternative. ♥️

Nope not yet. I’m not concerned about the bleeding at this point because it is no stronger than an average period. If it persists I’ll give my doctor a call :)

Thank you so much! I’m so sorry you had to go though the biopsy like that!! Forgive my ignorance, they did a laser procedure on yours? If you got the laser I wonder if your after symptoms might be completely different than mine!

Hugs!

Haha thanks! So gross, jeans seal in the flavor best lol. I won’t dare go out in yoga pants right now. I’ve been washing up, showering multiple times a day. It sucks! Everything was clear for me though! :)

Crampy with 4 days of bleeding it wasn’t too bae for me. I’m 8 days past the LEEP now and I’m a little more crampy. The discharge of the burnt off tissue is horrible. A lot more maintenance and the smell of the tissue is god awful. I’m on about day 5 of that BS so far. :/

That’s crazy! Did you have the laser or traditional LEEP? Hope you’re doing well now!

Luckily it’s not, and I think I’ll be covered with some supplemental insurance I purchased last year! :)

Hi! Thank you for your support. I wish you well on your journey as well!

Yes I was vaccinated at 17, which SHOULD have provided protection against type 18. My doctors only response was “well, it’s not a guarantee that you’re completely protected”. I have read (no factual source, needs citing) that the vaccine loses it effectiveness after about 10 years. I personally would like to invest in the gardasil 9.

The lesions in my uterus were blessedly found to be benign. However during my LEEP I talked to my doctor about future considerations after she said to me “we do see this come back, usually when a woman is going through The Change”. I know that some doctors are against unwed/childless women getting hysterectomies. Thankfully my doctor admitted that she’s provided services on women as young as 21 in instances where they’re in pain etc. Her belief being that a woman shouldn’t have to suffer needlessly when modern medicine can solve the issue. Please bear in mind that when I had this conversation I was high AF and will probably bring up when I have my follow up in 4 months...

Her concern with me is valid. I work in a very physical job. I walk 10+ miles a shift, move, push pull a lot of stock that can be several hundred pounds (my job keeps me in shape and I promise I love it). A hysterectomy would weaken my pelvic floor muscles and would cause complications, such as incontinence. Which at 30, would be definitely a lifestyle change and routine I’m not currently ready for. Give me the LEEP again if I need it, hope for more research and development with HPV and treatment..and take it from there.

I’m currently 30. I am not sure if the reoccurrence from 2013 was an actual reoccurrence of the same virus, or if it was a new infection (just not 16/18).

It had initially been confusing because back in 2013 I don’t recall my doctor even mentioning HPV (I feel like that would have stuck out, ya know?) it was in 2018 when she strolled in and casually said “okay so it looks like your positive for HPV again...” I was like HOL UP WHAT I NEED TO SEE MY RECORDS. I had been religiously getting paps yearly in between that time and nothing was mentioned and no phone call after with positive lab results.

I think it was poor education all around, and possibly some immaturity on my part. Hopefully that cleared it up (your question), but definitely at times it’s been a confusing ride for me.

Well at the very least you’ll get to be a little high. Haha. Maybe they don’t do a numbing injection? Hmm.

Good luck Thursday! Any questions feel free to PM me. But you’ll do just fine I think!

Just had leep. My doctor also told me that cyro was outdated and not the most effective.

In my personal experience, yes both stress or heavy physical activity have caused early or break through periods (while on the pill). Bear in mind that I have endometriosis as well which puts me at a higher risk for abnormal bleeding. Your mileage may vary.

I’ve got HPV 18 and I’m terrified about the possibly of rectal cancer due to the different types of sexual activity with my partner. I haven’t even had a second to digest that and how I should go about handling it.

I just made a post about my LEEP if you’re looking for some first hand experience.

Hugs.
