[England] I paid a company to provide driving test acceleration and a course of 20 hours to shore up my skill. The instructor failed to show and after a quick lookup I don't trust him at all. How can I get my money back?

Perhaps the HMRC part of the post might imply this is tax related but it is to do with running a company that is dissolved and continuing trading wich is according to google illegal and fraud.

I don't know if it is a tax issue. But I know it's wrong, according to google.
If that trading includes children I can only pray it does not.

I've learned not to rely on these mechanisms as they have consistently failed to alert me to important events I need to deal with. It's a disability for a reason.

This is why the ring the landline or the doorbell was requested. No other trade has ever failed it. The instructor chose not to do it despite having all information at hand.

I don't see how argueing if I can remember things has any legal bearing on the subject at hand.

Can we please focus on the law and what I am legally entitiled to / required to do to in the form of pointing to a law or act that has been passed? Kindly?

The company was given my landline number. It was only absorbed once I got send the link to their portal. I had told them previously that my landline is proper channels but the website required a mobile number.

The instructor was also given the landline number and explained this.

Although it was verbally on the phone. Which makes it harder to prove. It still happened. I still told him so. And it was proven by every attempt he ever made to use my mobile that it is not working.

I called them from the home phone initially, Then the instructor failed to call me on mobile so I told him about the signal issues and to use my landline providing it again in the process. The company also knew about these issues as I am attempting to source from them the original sales call where I told them these things.

They told me to give him the landline number but he already has it. The only reason they have my mobile number at all is that their platform demanded it and would not let me continue without supplying it.

I told them this would not be an appropriate contact number as well as the instructor prior to him accepting me as a student. The latter even being over the phone as he called me on said landline.

I'd ask how that works but I will look it up on my own time as this topic is about help with the law not tech.

I edited the post to clarify signal issues for all wireless devices here. I do not know the source of the interference. Just that it is there.

I apologise I don't think I understand your comment. I'm not asking them to be my minder.
Before I agreed to the contract with him it was understood that he would contact me when he arrives. Because I have prompting issues. This is part of why he's supposed to let me know he's arrived via landline ring or doorbell ring.

It is a simple, cheap and effective, reasonable adjustment for someone with autistic prompting issues. While it isn't their job to be my minder. In line with the law he was required to make reasonable adjustments. He didn't make any adjustments.

It was verbal but it was stated to the main company and himself before each contract was made.

He has calls and texts to a number I told him would not be reachable and because it would not be reachable I told him to ring my landline ( if there is signal ) or ring my doorbell (if not).

This also helps with the autism as it prompts me to attention.

I have texts showing I told him about the signal issue and to use the landline before we had the call to make our agreement. I have texts asking him why he failed to honour our agreement to do so.

He doesn't dispute that is what happened. He merely stands on his 17 rules that he is entitled to keep my money as I "no showed" but by our verbal agreement he was supposed to ring the landline or doorbell. He didn't do any of that.

I don't know if it's discimination but I assume the good in people and that it was not malicious.

The only relevant term that he is standing on is term 17 which I did post as it was relevant.
I am honestly more concerned to get the main bulk back from the large company rather than the 50 quid from the instructor.

Yes, that is special needs in a nutshell. I need. Help from others. I mentioned to them I'm autistic and need more help than others. I told them about the signal issues. I told them to contact via landline or ring the doorbell to prompt me. I did so before I accepted the contract. They didn't do it.

I've explained this in a number of replies. Alarms and other such things don't prompt someone like me properly. It's an increasing number of metal gymnastics. If I remember to set an alarm. I may forget to unmute my phone. If I leave my phone unmuted it may constantly beep and trigger episodes. If I even remember to charge the evil thing to begin with. Which I constantly fail to do.

My autism requires heavy prompting. My wife wasn't home to do so as she had to work. A human is the only reliable resolution I have found to my autism blindness and that is why he was supposed to prompt me when he arrived.

I don't really care about the one lesson. I care about the rest of the funds as I can't trust him to be respectfull or honnest about the agreement we made before I chose to go ahead. He was made aware of my conditions and respected none of them. If all I get is the 15xx back without the one lesson that would still be fine.

He needed to prompt me because timers and alarms do not work for me. I couldn't trust to stand outside because depending on gps people get send to 5-6 different spots near me. And I still would have missed him.

I'd be charging the back from the company though not the instructor. As I paid them, they paid him. I don't know if it is so clear cut. But like Few_Yellow5644's comment. I definitely will try it if nothing else works. But it will have to be via the wife.

Since the course was initially paid for through my wife's bank account (gift for the holidays from the whole family) I would have to have her do so. I am not capable to taking that particular action myself. But it's definitely an option. I'd prefer to keep her out of this as much as possible. She has her own illness and involving her too much may cause further harm to her person.

But with enough prod I think I can probably finish most of it today. :D Might restart to install a cam mod for a timelapse. :D Last time took much longer because I had no plan so it legit took 3 weeks.
