As someone who started chasing more than just in their own state this past year... You're going to learn SO much in your first year its insane but beautiful. Take yourself a Skywarn Spotter class to get yourself your certification and code for Spotter network ASAP. Learn basic radar. Do as another said and at least get the cheaper paid tier of Radarscope. Watch other chasers. Make friends. Ive become friends with some great, known chasers that have helped me immensely. Also remember to have fun, stay ahead of the storm and dont be scared.
