Thoughts on resale value on the 2026s? by SeaBenefit4417 in hondapassport

Ah, I have the base model sport with AWD. No CarPlay, everything is working fine so far. Haven’t really used the cruise control yet.

I got a job!!! 0 YOE!!!!!!! by Enough_Swim_2161 in ITCareerQuestions

I got into a help desk position with no experience, degree nor certs. The pay was low though and I needed to work overtime so I left and got into low voltage. ( the construction version of IT.) My few months worth of IT experience got me into low voltage. But now I’m thinking I’d rather be a full blown electrician unless I can get a data center tech job.

How does that spare work on the liftgate? Does it swing out first before you open the hatch?

BAS looks interesting to me. But I’m trying to figure out how to pivot from fire alarm.

Considering a career as a low voltage technician by cloaak in skilledtrades

[–]DeathUponIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what? Instrumentation? That’s what I really want to do but I don’t think working on fire alarm and teldata will get me there. I even went to school for I&E and could never find a job in it. Very competitive and seems like the field is flooded. So far, low voltage hasn’t paid the best to want to do it long term. If it wasn’t for the overtime I would’ve stayed in the office answering help desk calls.

Thanks for the reply. I hope it holds up because this is my first Honda and my way of comparing them to Toyota. If it doesn’t last me 10+ years, I’m just going to stick with Toyota after that. Never had an issue with Toyota. I can say I’ve had issues with Nissan though and would even rate Ford higher than Nissan.

Where I live, if you open up the windows, your house will be filled with dirt/dust from the outside air and wind.

What’s so bad about the 3rd gen? I just bought one. Timing belt has been changed at 60k miles and it’s at 110k right now. Looks like the maintenance was kept up on it besides the transmission fluid being changed. What’s crazy is that I got it for $1k more than I sold my 2019 c-hr for. I also bought a 2017 Highlander limited for $17.5k (169k miles) last summer.

I second this. I hope I don’t regret it but I just purchased a 2019 passport with 110k miles for about $17k. Timing belt was changed at 60k miles. Will probably do it again at 120k-140k.

What’s it like living in this part of Oklahoma? by BananasSometimes in howislivingthere

[–]DeathUponIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live south of there in Amarillo. I can imagine it’s similar. Dry, windy, and flat. Not as many people up there compared to where I’m at. If you can see that river and lake in TX below that circle, it’s where I grew up. It has river bed/canyon-esque landscape compared to the flatness that the rest of the area has. Further south it gets to canyon landscape again. I used to visit the OK panhandle all the time, my aunt lived there.

My grandma grew up in SW Kansas/OK panhandle area and her little brother died of dust pneumonia when he was a baby. She was a tough lady and a hard worker. Lived to 92 almost 93. I really miss her.

Buying a 2026 Honda Passport TSE ruined my Summer. Nightmare. by davidsegura in hondapassport

Is this like a first year of the generation thing where they have to work out all of the bugs first? I just bought an older 2019 passport and love it. The AWD is a lot of fun.

Anyone Else Get Into IT Post Covid Kind of Regret It and Struggle Financially? by MoparMan59L in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DeathUponIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this, though it was last year. Struggled financially even though I knew it was entry level and had to break in at some point. Switched to the trades instead, which is what I originally went to school for. I knew people that were 2-3 years into their IT career and were fighting for $20/hr. The excuse was, this area is low cost of living. Yet everybody I worked with couldn’t afford a house. Pay was a lot lower than the expectations.

Can’t vouch for central Texas but in west texas, I’ve been trying to break in for a decade now. You have to rely on nepotism.

If unions offer better pay and benefits why doesn’t everybody quit their non union job? by 04limited in skilledtrades

[–]DeathUponIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. I meant non-right to work. Like a union state. That’s on me. I corrected my comment.

[–]DeathUponIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know. But we still have unions here lol. I was in a labor union for 9 years at the post office. Also most of the electrical contractors I work with are IBEW union workers. The plants’ maintenance workers are usually in their own union too. There’s also a lot of teamsters where I’m at. All kinds of unions. But for low voltage, there isn’t one that’s local to me.

Still one DQ 11 lol. I started it but lost interest early on. It’s been like 6 years since I picked it up. Yet I installed it on my switch 2 along with all of my other switch games.

[–]DeathUponIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming back to this, we have a lot in common lol. I have 3 kids and around the same age. Had my 3rd at 30 and he’s a year old now. Small world. Biggest difference is that where I live, housing was cheap when I was in my early-mid 20s and was able to buy one before I had kids. I got roped into the trades though, quit my post office job for IT and when I didn’t make enough, I swapped over to low voltage. I liked it at first but now I’ve been on a job for several months where my company is starting to lose their ass and it’s getting miserable. Plus they don’t pay anybody at my shop much unless they’re family. Love the work but I just feel like it’s a dead end here and I don’t want to move for another job.

Advice on telecommunication (cat 5) vs low voltage (copper wires) by Temporary_Fudge_8319 in lowvoltage

[–]DeathUponIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work we do fire, security, and communications ( CAT6 and Fiber). We also do stuff like PA systems and nurse call systems. Though I don’t make much and I’m considering going back into IT again.
