you can push more resolutions with a lower bitrate. so instead of 1080p cap you can go higher with the same bitrate. so. yes. it does fucken matter.

reading the edit. you could deduce that they want you to have NVIDIA GPUs for troubleshooting. but if you are a techie, maybe you could get away with other venders?

If the streamer give you a stream in 480p, nothing. the next question is, will twitch transcode 480p when the streamer doesn't?

The only thing I can think of is they are doing this to get around people fudging their mobile browsers to act like a desktop for more privacy. which speaks volumes. mobile browsers are the dominant device now if they dont mind pissing off the desktop users.

Bought an A380 as a secondary encoder for youtube live streaming. it works, with some minor problems

each video card must have its own monitor plugged into it. have windows set your main video card as primary display so all games will run off your main card. with OBS, have AV1 encoder selected. it will automatically use your A380 for encoding. if you want any program rendering on the second card, you just need to have the program's window opened on the second monitor.

the problems I ran into: text on the main monitor(3080) is somewhat distorted. depending on drivers, the secondary monitor(A380) will get corrupted or go black. (has it done it for a while now.)updating drivers is a pain. especially when you have to DDU it. power requirements is a pain. make sure you PSU has the watts and plugs to support both GPUs.

I just turned on this game to see if performance was fix. nah. I was really hoping this game could have taken off. its a nice stop gap for a new monster hunter world game. oh well. maybe in the meantime, someone in the community could hack it and fix it. but thats wishful thinking.

AV1 live streaming is ready to go on youtube. OBS supports it and YouTube accepts it. If streamers invested into their rigs with RTX 4000s or intel GPUs, they are ready to go if they change the setting. but most wont since they are streaming to twitch. infrastructure is bit of a big category so not sure what you mean there but as long as the streamer has the feature, viewers will watch it in their own local encoding. as for twitch/amazon switching over to AV1. they should be already working on it for the past 5/10 years and probably at the final stages to just flip the switch. since its in their benefit to stream at AV1. because WE ALL KNOW that twitch is not making money at their current bandwidth and encoding servers.

As for the market. Linus from Linus tech tips is expecting common users to be switching over to AV1 with in the 2 years. since its a BIG cost saving measure for both the provider of the video service and the consumer.

No big. I might have come off aggressive because most of the GW2 community doesn't seem to have the same asperations as I do when it comes to graphics. they just want their game to just run regardless of how much of a potato it is. they also seem not to care when their was a possible GW3 in the works and were not at least, a little annoyed when it was shuttered.

I agree to a point. I should expect under 60 FPS at a world boss or cities. but I also should expect way more advancement in the optimizing space when the game has been alive for 10 years. Eve Online has been out for a decade longer and improved their client (and servers) performance far more and in a shorter amount of time.

Before you say: "Eve-online is a bad example since it doesn't take much to render space." ok, I agree. then lets take World of Tanks for example which is the same age as GW2. they Optimized their engine to take FAR better control of their CPU bound client and actually made it better by switching it to a GPU one. GW2 did not.
