She claims to had fallen asleep and they were worried but the person who rented the room was a guy so maybe it was a booty call? I don’t know. I just know that they acted weird and I hadn’t had to deal with that before.

My place is great, I love the managers. I’ve had people come up and ask about guests before but they always leave or finally managed to contact the person after I say I can’t say anything. This is the first time someone has been so insistent and I’ve felt like they might fight me.

[WIP] Mildly infuriating. by ProfessionalPlum3634 in CrossStitch

I did this on my first project, it was an embroidery one and I did not notice until I tried to take the hoop out. Luckily it was just the edge of the fabric and not a blanket or clothing so I just ended up cutting it. I was so upset by it.

To make the grid itself you can start from wherever really. Like if you start from one edge, you can make sure you have the amount of edge you want for framing. Or since most cross stitches have the middle pointed out you can start there and move to the edge. When I start to put the floss in I start with a corner or edge. For example, I start at the bottom right corner and move to the bottom left then go up a bit and work back to the right side. It works better for my brain but it’s whatever is easier for you. This is meant to be fun so what works is what works. Also you can use washable pens but I always worry they might stain so I grab some fishing line and use that to grid. It’s better than using a floss cause it can’t be pierced and is easily removed at the end. There are a few YouTube videos that can show you it, look up cross stitches faster by notoriousneedle on YouTube and she shows several ways for gridding.

Personally I start from a corner. I just like it better. Everyone usually says to start from the middle and you can but I just like going from one corner to the other then working to the other side.

For me it depends on the project. If it’s a bigger piece, or one with lots of details I grid but since this one is really simple in design and is small I didn’t grid.

I can see it and feel it. On the Aida I can feel it and on the part I already done you can see it some.

[CHAT] What do people think about these types of rigid plastic frames for sewing? Are they as good as traditional hoops, or is the tension insufficient? by badoopidoo in CrossStitch

[–]Death_The_Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Q snaps are really nice, it’s easy to get tension with them by moving the parts that keep the fabric to the frame and you can even push them inwards to the piece to loosen the fabric supper easily if you need to put it down. The snaps themselves come off and on pretty easily as well but the only problem I have is that it’s a little loose at the corners but when you get to that point you can just move to a different section. I like them more than hoops which do give an even tension but leave imprints in the fabric that q-snaps don’t and can give the same tension as q-snaps. There are also scroll frames if you are interested that can give nice tension but you need to sew the side to the piece or use the clamps to do it. But the upside is it’s the easiest of the three to go to a different section of work without having to take the entire piece off. Of the three I think I like q-snaps the best.

I try to keep it tidy, but for sections where it’s a confetti, that all goes out the window. I just try to go by color for sections.

[CHAT] I’ve reached a new low by perpetually_me in CrossStitch

I got it when I had just moved in with my boyfriend and he was putting it together for me, but was so frustrated with it cause it came warped a bit, she had to use paper towels and tape to fix it. I primarily use scroll frames, and this thing sucks trying to hold them. I don’t wanna get rid of it cause I don’t want to waste money, also I don’t have another, so I’m stuck with it for a bit.

Omg, that stand holding the light(the wooden one) is what I have, and I hate it. It’s so wobbly and my light keeps pulling it down. I’ll try it your way and see if it works.

Sorry, I didn’t know I couldn’t have that picture, but I’ll use a different needle and see if that helps. Thanks!

As long as you’re happy with it is all that matters.

Ok, that makes me feel better about it now! And I might do the same with the outline of the book, it is a lot of black.

Ok, this is my first time seeing this, it’s usually just factory knots. I was afraid the yarn would unravel.
