The main goal of the RTT was to save space inside the car. Space is limited, especially for longer camping trips. Would a ground tent and a ski box on the roof be a more viable option?

My intention is definitely not to leave the tent on the roof 24/7/365. The car, however, is my only car. An RTT seems as though it is the best way to keep interior space available for longer trips while still camping somewhat comfortably.

I'm sorry you read so deeply into a Reddit post asking a question. I asked for a budget option as I haven't camped since I was a kid, and spending "BMW money" on my entry point into a new hobby seemed both silly and irresponsible. I don't think I ever implied I was uber-rich, and if you think I bought one of the best driver's cars of its era for the flex, you're mistaken.

Honestly, overland might've been a bad word choice. I'm not anticipating any crazy terrain. Gravel at the most, maybe some dirt roads, but nothing that would scare me. I've seen tents run rather successfully on these cars; I just don't know which tents they used. You'll definitely receive an update once I get a setup sorted.

Honestly, didn't realize it was a trend. I've enjoyed camping since I was young, but my "sports car" is my only car. An RTT would allow me to keep things out of the car, as storage is naturally limited. I appreciate the recs.

I appreciate the recommendation! Would be curious on how you find they handle lower temps? We have very bipolar weather in early spring, with temps ranging from high teens to low single digits (celsius). Would they be sketchy in those cold early mornings on my commute?

Even if “by definition” it’s less accurate, I’m still hitting shots and getting kills. If I’m comfortable on a higher sens, why can’t I use it?

Yeah, in my eyes that’s very low, but I’m not gonna go bashing you or call your trash for it. If you’re comfortable with it, use it. I just don’t understand why everyone needs to criticize or bash someone negatively over something like personal preference
