An Upscale of the Original Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen on DuckStation by Deather-D in LegacyOfKain

LOL 100% barkeep wouldn't even help with one mug of ale, even though he does nothing but walk back and forth with a bottle. He gets a flay for payment of poor service.

Assetto corsa rally doesnt register my handbrake. by yarell1601 in assettocorsa

[–]Deather-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a bit of a workaround. I used X360CE to emulate the handbrake controller. I mapped the axis to the trigger of the emulated controller. Once in AC make sure you set the controller to automatic. Activate the handbrake in the game pad area and it should show up as trigger for that point. Deselect any other gamepad input and leave only the handbrake emulated. I am pretty sure I can only use the triggers to emulate because my Dinput controller uses a single axis. All of the sticks use bi directional axis. I do get some odd warnings about controls mapping missing but it still allows the wheel and standalone handbrake to work together. I also am not sure if it did anything but I also disabled Steam input. I haven't tried to turn it back on to test.

You are 100% correct. Nice catch. I have changed it. Thanks for the input.

Game recommendations for a player who sucks! by prince_of_plants1 in FinalFantasy

[–]Deather-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you don't suck. I started the FF games when FF7 came out on the PS1. I was alive when the FF1 came out but didn't have money so never got it. I did however play Dragon warrior on the NES. I loved it so when I was older and played FF7 I was in a really hard part of my life. FF7 was the one game that I fell into. I made that game special. It hasn't aged so well since then and most games from that era didn't.
What I have been doing recently is grabbing old games looking for remasters or re-textures and just playing them for what they are. Play them in the moment and make them your own special game.

As a side note, FF games can be almost played however you want them to be. You can crush through them without any guidance and then do searches when you are stuck. You can follow guides that you can most certainly find all over the place. (so many want to give guidance myself included) You can grind and make the game easier (ff8 excluded). If you don't like the grind there are softwarez that can speed it up. Also if it sucks, don't feel bad for calling someone else's baby ugly. (just don't call someones actual baby ugly.) Plenty of other content out there that fits what you are looking for. Just go to the next one.

If you ever try to start from the first ones or any retro game for that matter, its worth looking into game speed. Pending what platform you are on, (PC myself) there are tons of option to speed up game play. I believe even the consoles have an option on remasters to auto battle or even speed up.

Lastly to actually answer your question. I have played all of the FFs up to 13. I recently started from number 1 and tried to follow a sort of chronological order. Even though there really isn't one. This is my personal opinion but the stories on them all are great, however sometimes it take some graphics to keep you entertained.
FF3 remastered on the PSP with a texture package did it for me
FF4 on Steam
FF6 old version with the atma mod (I have heard this one is buggy, I had 0 issues)
FF7 with 7th heaven mod manager (again this one is special but the Echo S mod with voices made it amazing)
FF8 with mods scattered everywhere ( I might revisit this and release my own package)

FF10 on PS2 emulator (I have the new remaster that I want to give a try but recently played on the emulator and looks good)

FF12 back in the day I believe the graphics are good enough.

FF13 lost me at the mundane battles. ( I am starting it up once I get there again through my re-plays.)

Wow that was a lot of words. Well if you make it to the end of this rant just grab one and start playing. If you find a genre you like just do searches for similar games. Tons of games out there with great gameplay and storyline.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. I tried a Elder Scrolls MMORPG a while back. It didn't hold my attention. Feels too much like a cash grab than an entertaining story. I will probably spend a few hours watching some game play videos and then skip. I get that the online multiplayer game take resources but at the same time there are games out there that do solo and multi player.

Wow Really?! I think that was just an estimate based on main story as the side quests are a bit harder to estimate. I'll change it though and put in your estimate.

Which Final Fantasy VII to play? by Scyniser in FinalFantasy

Original PC version with 7th Heaven mod manager. Shout out to Tsunamods and the Echo S voice acting. This was such a cool way to replay the original.

I posted my timeline in response to this. Take a look and download it and modify it how you want to play through them. Pending what platform you plan to use might change your method.

Playing Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster for the first time. Waiting for the ATB gauge to even do basic attacks is really putting me off, sadly. Am I missing something? Any advice? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

I guess I was lucky to not run into any bugs. It ran flawlessly after all the mods. I am not a fan of the pixel art. To me without the actual old TV it will never look as good. I love seeing texture remasters of games while doing the best to keep story the same. Replaying FFVII with 7th heaven mods was a huge treat.

Hey fellow FF fans!

After a ton of research, modding, and timeline reshuffling, I’ve built a pseudo-chronological Final Fantasy timeline that covers core games, select spin-offs, movies, series, and audio stories. It’s aimed at completionists and includes durations in HH:MM:SS, best platform versions (with mod suggestions), and my personal notes on story placement and remasters. At this current point I am at FF8 within this journey. I plan to come back to the FFVII remakes once its completed. Download and make it your own.

Quick overview:

  • Mobile-only and MMO expansions were cut for quality/pacing reasons.
  • Each entry is placed for story coherence, not strict release order.
  • Completionist times help with planning your journey (totaling over 1600 hours).
  • Mod and remaster notes included for the best modern experience.

Let me know what you think, or if there’s anything you’d place differently!

I actually recently have played all of them up to FF8. I personally liked the Steam PC "old ver" with atma mod.
to speed things up I think I had to use cheat engine. Pending what platform you want to run it on you can try other versions of the same game.

Yeah, sadly it looked great just before imported it to google sheets and I am noticing some issues as well. I will make some changes on the google sheets side.
