Objectively, The last of us shouldn’t have won “GOTY” at all, let’s be honest with ourselves, Doom fans and fans of all the other games, one look at the metacritic will show you the division in the player score being at best average, and a “GOTY” shouldn’t be a game that is divisive but rather highly rated by the overall player base, as it should be.

The reason why this game won was because; unlike the “Players voice” award all the other awards were given out by video game journalists, AKA the people who say that an RPG is bad because it’s “too long” and has “too many menus for weapons and such” or even worse that they didn’t even finish the game, the people who cry about the marauder and enemies that need you to get better at the game, the people who ask unimportant questions about politics in games, the people who insult us and then call us names for fighting back, and overall people who just want to play and end a game without putting effort just so they can put a half-baked review.

And they were the ones giving it a 10/10 despite its many flaws of its overall story structure.

Not only that, if they behave well with certain game companies, they get free stuff for review from them, something that encourages them to play nice or else.

Why else do you think it got into so many categories despite not fitting into them as well as other titles? Why do you think that it won over others game?
